Any inspectors on the west coast to recommend?
Hey guys, I have a car near Gilroy, CA that I would need someone knowledgeable to lay eyes on for me. Of course, I will compensate. Please let me know, and thanks!

Re: Any inspectors on the west coast to recommend?
I can recommend one that you would NOT want to hire, and that's Bob Petricca from Northridge CA dba California Dream Car Appraisals https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif

Here's a link to CA appraisers associated with the Int'l Assoc of Auto Appraisers, the organization I've been with since '96. I've had good experiences with most members, but you should do your due dilligence and interview anyone you're looking at hiring. Everybody has their strengths and weaknesses. Good luck.

Re: Any inspectors on the west coast to recommend?
Hey Sam! Great to see you as well. These guys have been awesome.
Just FYI, the car in question is an 'alleged' cross ram Hugger Orange '69 Z car that's been on the market for a while. |
Re: Any inspectors on the west coast to recommend?
Mark,
LOS car? I sold a '69 Hugger Orange Z in that area a few years ago, but it did not have a X-Ram setup on it when it left me (which does not mean much). Intact, repainted car with POP that I had gone through (motor/trans/rear). If you PM the last few numbers of the VIN, I can tell you if that is the car. I owned it for 10 years. Former LA celebrity owned car also. JB |
Re: Any inspectors on the west coast to recommend?
Not my old car, NOR car. Looks like a nice rig from the pics, and the price is not bad "for this economy" as everyone who has been looking at my car says. But, in person, might be something else, you never know with pics.
You are definitely on track having it inspected by a board member. JB |
Re: Any inspectors on the west coast to recommend?
Sounds like you have plenty of guys willing to look for you but if not I would be happy to as Gilroy is about an hour from me.
I think I know the car you are talking about. Has been for sale quite a while. |
Re: Any inspectors on the west coast to recommend?
Thanks Chevy, the guys here have been incredibly generous. I appreciate your offer as well. Will let you all know how things pan out.
JB, just out of curiosity, which celebrity owned your car at one time? |
Re: Any inspectors on the west coast to recommend?
Mark,
The guy's name was Aaron Seltzer of "Scary Movie" fame. His dad had some guys doing resto work for him in Orange, CA around 1990/91. One of their cars, a beautiful black '70 LS-6 Chevelle was stolen out of their shop and never seen again. It was sitting next to the 72-72 '69 Z when I bought it. Actually liked it better, but it would not fit in my garage. JB |
Re: Any inspectors on the west coast to recommend?
Wow, nice cars Aaron had! It infuriates me to hear about muscle cars (or any car, really) being stolen.
Regarding the car in question, Dean gave me a call yesterday after being gracious enough to take a look at it and I'm not sure the car is worth the $69K the seller is asking. Seems there are some pretty significant paint issues and a few other things. Will keep you updated. Dean, Russ, & Jeff have been a huge asset. |
