Clean up your yard!!!!
I have to drive by this house everyday for the last 20 years and looked at this 1968 L-79 Ralley Red/Red interior 4spd Vette. I have tried to buy the car for years. The complete frame and drivetrain stored in old tractor trailer.

At least it's not rusting.

Might sink into the ground though.

Can you imagine how many critters live inside or underneath that poor car? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

Re: Clean up your yard!!!!
-------Charlie,,,As for the rusting comment,,,I can only imagine the windshield posts and the birdcage. Ill bet there isnt much of either one left. That actually may be the reason that no progress whatsoever has been made!!!........Bill S

Re: Clean up your yard!!!!
The birdcage and windshield posts are in good shape (First thing I look at every couple years). When the car was torn apart in the 80s it was a complete running car. The guy just isnt a car guy lost interest. I would be more worried about the body fiberglass sitting outside without any structial support from the frame for all those years.

Re: Clean up your yard!!!!
That's what I was thinking about too.
Where it hasn't cracked,it's probably stretching beyond it's original shape. |
Re: Clean up your yard!!!!
Such a shame but a good thing that the drivetrain's out of the weather..
A dirty trick no doubt but a couple Mrs. Kravitz type calls complaining of the 'old abandonded wreck' may make the guy think differently next time you drop in w/ cash in hand?. So what's w/ the ghost hiding behind the bird-bath?. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif ~ Pete |
Re: Clean up your yard!!!!
Whos knows what kind of crap you will find in that yard. Thats the Virgin Mary drinking out of the bird bath I guess???? Maybe thats why he will never finished the vette cuz the bird bath ghost scared um???? You should see the aerosol can restored Montgomery Ward lawn tractor that resides in the garage where the vette should be. Funny thing is that he has a vast collection of mowers and crappy tractors but cannot get the motivation to cut the grass. The funny (or sad part is) that two houses up from there is another C3 sitting in a ladys back yard rotting away.

Re: Clean up your yard!!!!
For what you can buy 1968 vettes for its probably not worth restoring. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Clean up your yard!!!!
Your right!!! Probabily not anymore. 68's are like 64's just seem to be black sheep in vintage vettes???? If it where an L7-1 or L-88 or any big-block for that matter I would have persued it alot harder than I did. I just figured that if he let it go for a couple grand I would have snagged it up. Its prob worth more in parts than a whole. The guy used to have an original L-88 hood until someone stole it. I remember looking at the original tank sticker years ago.I even thought it be a neat car to make drag car.
