Tell me about rare color combos!
I remember being in Nashville in the early 1990s and saw a two-tone SS350. It was the lighter blue available that year (Warwick Blue in Pontiac-speak) with a white top. I believe 1969 was the first year for the two-tone option on the Camaro.
I've also known that the default stripe color for a burgundy 1969 Camaro was - strangely - red. I have seen one or two SSs like this, but it didn't occur to me that I hadn't seen a Z . . . until now. There's a pic of one in the latest Musclecar Review, and it's the first Camaro in a long time that has stopped my heart. So I thought it would be interesting if people could post cars that are trimmed a little different from the norm . . . anyone? |
Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
If you scroll through this looooooooooong thread you'll find some great shots of the Burgundy/Red Z.
Beautiful car! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/show...1/fpart/1/vc/1 |
Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
I own (since 1977) a documented (shipper invoice & orig bill of sale) 68 RS Z/28 Cordovan Maroon with White Houndstooth interior and white stripes. There are several 69s in this combo, mine is the only 68 to have surfaced so far according to CRG. Also own (since 1988) a 68 SS/RS Convertible LeMans Blue with White interior, top and stripes. I can't wait to see what else shows up on this thread!!!

Here was my 69 nova, only a 307 car but was a 53-50 paint code- Glacier Blue with a Dover white painted top. Was a california car it whole life. I thought it was a cool paint combo. A guy by the name Don Werner owns it, anyone know him?

Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
I looked at purchasing a 1968 Chevy II that was two-toned Palamino Ivory with a gold painted top and Gold interior. That was right off the trim tag.

Here's a link from the lounge section of my 1970 red/white and blue Trans Am. A very pretty combination.

Cool, but what about Camaros? Those are the cars - like Mustangs - that seem they're like bellybuttons, but there must be some that are different!

Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
The weirdest Camaro combo I ever saw was that Hugger Orange 69 Z with dark green interior.
|
Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
------I have the only white with orange houndstooth interior 69 Z ever unearthed in my shop (not my car). Came with black stripes. The prevalent thought is that it is more than likely the only one built. Very cool to look at........Bill S

Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
How about a Lemonwood Yellow 67 Chevelle Malibu with a Medium Blue interior (yes, Blue believe it or not). Ugliest thing I've ever seen, but it's unrestored and verified to the trim tag!! Someone was smoking something when they filled out the order form, I guess.

Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
Wonder if most of these unusual color combo cars were built at the end of the production run where they had an inventory of parts they had to use up for the end of the model run?

With only 292 71 Cuda verts built, triple black is a rare color combo. [/ QUOTE ] Actually, 374 'Cuda ragtops were built. 292 were built for US consumption. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif But there's nothing inherently unusual about triple black. Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
I have what some may consider to be unique. My car was built in late September, 1969 and delivered just in time for Halloween. It is a strange combination of Tuxedo Black with White stripes and Orange Hounds Tooth interior. It is an original ZL2 ducted hood car with Canadian documentation. Some folks refer to the car as "The Great Pumpkin" I would be happy to share if anyone would like to see it.
Richard. Oh and by the way I also have a glacier blue 69 coupe with a dover white painted roof and dark blue interior. The original owner did not care for the painted top and had a dark blue vinyl top installed. Thanks! |
Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
Pics on the pumpkin, please? Sounds like a Mopar! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
