Legendary Interior Install on 70 LS5 Convertible

I just completed a complete `Legendary Interior` install. Well almost complete....still have to finish the Headrests and lower door panel screws. Legendary Interior is a great product....however they are very slow. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

Looks great Dan! My only complaint with Legendary is not the lead time as I plan for that but the piece meal shipping. I just need to get Chris to ship it all at once as it creates an administrative nightmare when you get 5-6 shipments for one interior. Chris is one of the nicest guys to deal with and they have a great product and will be around for a very long time. I am on my 4th interior since Donnie turned me onto them. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Re: Legendary Interior Install on 70 LS5 Convertible

Nice work Dan! Do you install the seat covers/foam too? I can do pretty much everything involved with a Chevelle restoration, but I draw the line on seat covers. I tried it a couple times, and got so frustrated, it just wasn't worth the aggravation. So, I send them out, and a few days later (and a few hundred bucks) they're back and ready to bolt down.

The door panels look good... how are they compared to originals? Exact or ???

Dan the car looks Killer.
I was down in Carlyle last fall and spent about 1 hour looking at the chevelle interiors. The seats and door panels are almost as good as the original GM ones. The other manufactures chevelle interiors are terrible. When I did my chevelle I did not know about Legendary or I would
not of gone to the trouble of finding NOS interior Panels
for my dark green interior.

I just put one of their interiors in my ZL-1 project..very nice stuff, but I too and not pleased with the time it takes to get their stuff and the time it takes to replace stuff that aint right..I recieved two driver side door panels insetad of one of each..almost three weeks to correct the problem even though they ackonwledged that it was their error..thought I would have been at the head of the line..still worth the wait as the stuff is really nice.

Nice looking, but I wish someone would step up and make 100% correct door panels (besides SMS). You can see that the vertical ribs on these are formed from foam, as opposed to rigid, beveled cardboard that the originals used.

Great install nevertheless, Dan https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Looks great despite the foam ribbing in the door panels. Do they also offer the pearl windlace?

Re: Legendary Interior Install on 70 LS5 Convertib

Ok they look great however take a look at my NOS chevelle seat inserts that were made for GM production of the 70 chevelle. They are different look at the diamond pattern and the Pleats. The seats were made for me and the GM insets were sewn in.

Slow is one thing but if you dropped off in April and were still waiting? It is kind of hard to not be able to drive your car all summer.

Carmen,

We all feel your pain. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/mad.gif

I will wait one more week to hear from more members feeling the pain and then I`m going to send Chris at Legendary this thread. If I had such a good product with a terrible turn around time....I sure would want someone to inform me.

Dan.

That wait is nothing compered to SMS... but I'm willing to wait for the correct stuff. Actually, I am waiting right now.

If you send your interior out to be done in April, get in line with everyone else.
We finally get someone to make a good product at a fair price and you find something else to complain about.

I am extremely happy with my Legendary interior and think the guys who work there are tremendous.

How long is the wait Jim? It looks like I will start painting the ElCamino this week, and will need the interior in the next month or two. Should I order it now?

Re: Legendary Interior Install on 70 LS5 Convertib

Bill,

You should have ordered yours at CB08....this is when I gave them the rear side panels for the 70 Convertible....and I just got them back 3 weeks ago. Good Luck!

Jim,

One said that they were not nice guys, nor about the product and not even the price, I am upset with constantly being promised it will be done by such date....and have to wait weeks later. This is not the way to do business!

WOW! I did not send it out. I Delivered it there. I was told 4-6 weeks tops. It has been 4 months. I dont have any problem with waiting for a good product. I have a problem with being told a time frame and it taking way longer. I agree the people who work there are very nice. But I would have never stripped down my perfectly good driver seats and brought them there if I would have known it would take this long.

Also I had some other issues which I will not put out there that had nothing to do with time. If you knew the whole story you really would not think I was a complainer but a very patient and understanding client.

Re: Legendary Interior Install on 70 LS5 Convertib

All I will need is the front door panels (no rears on Elkys) and the two bucket seat covers. I won't need the seat covers installed. Is there a long wait to just buy the door panels/bucket seat covers? Just curious, I will call on Tues. I'm in no big hurry. I really won't need the stuff, untill the rest of the car is finished, and that could be several months.....and when do they get paid? When the stuff in ordered, or when they send it to you? They aren't holding your money for 4 months, are they??

1970ChevelleSS 09-02-2008 03:15 AM

Re: Legendary Interior Install on 70 LS5 Convertib

I paid when I dropped the stuff off. So yes they have had my money all this time.

Re: Legendary Interior Install on 70 LS5 Convertib

I didn't mean to get everyone so riled up. My only thought was, that if you order your interior at the beginning of the busiest time of the year you're going to get delays.

I ordered mine last summer and got it withing 8 weeks.

I had seen everyone's PUI interiors and heard all the complaints and was ecstatic to find out that Legendary was finally making Chevelle interiors!

Yes Bill,

This was my 5th or 6th set... weather it was Lendendary or SMS....everything gets paid in full...either the day they recieve your door panels, etc. or the day you drop everything off.

Re: Legendary Interior Install on 70 LS5 Convertib

Rainer,
We actually make our door panels with filler-board like they used on the originals. However, our vinyl is a thicker material which tends to make our pleats puffier than the originals. You can be confident in the fact that our door panels are the closest to the originals that you will see and they come with our Limited Lifetime Warranty for as long as you own your car. It is great to come on this site and see so many enthusiasts discussing Legendary Auto Interiors (good or bad). We appreciate and value what everyone has to say so we can get an idea of how we are doing and improve where we need to such as the leadtime discussion from this thread. Thanks everyone!!

Welcome aboard Eric. I will be installing two brand new Legendary interiors within about 2 weeks. They are completed and ready to install and look great. I just confered with my business partner/boss this morning and will likely start inventoring the 70 Chevelle black bucket/bench interiors so I don't have to worry about lead times. Maybe I will become a distributor.............. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

That sounds great. You can download a dealer application off of our website www.legendaryautointeriors.com. Let me know how the interior looks once you have it in the car. Thanks again.
