Impressive 61 Impala ressurection!

Don't know if any of you guys have seen this (Verne probably has! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif) but its cool as hell...Currently 15 pages long, so you'll need to have some time to kill. Be sure to start on page 1 and sift through all of it... amazing work this guy is doing to bring a 61 ragtop Impala back to life, and great pics and commentary to go along with it.

All I can say is AMAZING!

Only thing I can 'say' is....
https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

I only got to page two and I was tired just thinking about all the work! This guy is redefining the term 'labor of love' https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/shocked.gif If he were to charge himself $10/hr for his time, he'll have a quarter million in this car when its done. And from what I can tell (I didn't go to the end yet) it's gonna be a lowrider when its all done https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

Wow!!!!! Now THERE is a man dedicated to his love of the automobile!!!!! It takes someone special to undertake such a project and stay dedicated to it. Kudos to skim!

I was wondering what Joe was doing there as well. Closet Impala lover..................? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

I stumbled across the link to that thread while surfing the Jalopy Journal/HAMB board...I actually AM a closet hotrodder. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif That dude has some skills eh? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Personally, if I WAS a closet Impala lover I'd be fixing up that red 61 bubbletop he bought and re-sold to finance the ragtop project.

Lowrider or not, that will be an amazing car when finished. Hats off to the owner!

I did see it Joe. It truly is a labor of love. Much more work than 99% of the people in the hobby would be willing to put into a car. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

This 61 vert looked like an impossible task for a pro. A firstimer doing work like that is more than impressive.

......and if you read toward the end of the thread (can't remember exactly which page it's on) he has now purchased a white 61 ragtop for future restoration that is, by his own admission, in WORSE shape! Hard to imagine that https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...emlins/eek.gif

Another thing that impressed me was the number of newly registered site members (or existing members who are first time posters) who have made a point of telling this guy what an incredible job he's doing https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif

Finally, I may have been premature in presuming that the car could end up being a lowrider https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Many of the pictures show the car on lowrider type tires and wheels. As someone else here noted, even if it does become a lowrider, the workmanship is amazing.

Re: Impressive 61 Impala ressurection!

I agree totally with the drive that this guy has to save this car from the crusher! I was rude not too mention that! He has my vote for a devoted restorer, wether it's a lowrider or not. My hat is off to him for sure.

Re: Impressive 61 Impala ressurection!

-----Hey Bill,,,I believe he mentioned (traditional) 13 inch tires at one point so you are probably right about the lowrider part. That does not in any way diminish the unbelieveable amount of work and apparent love that is going into this project. He is just a really dedicated guy with a vision..........Bill S
