Mine used to be that way before the restoration. Somebody forgot the clock...Joe

The RS is the half assed part

With some day-two wheels and rubber, this Camaro might have a nice stance... but with the rally wheels and Polyglas tires, it just looks wrong (IMHO). Why is that?
|
Ivory Vinyl interior? Where I come from it's called Parchment!
|
Man that thing sounds mean; is that the stock camshaft you think?
|
Man those docs are suspect and i see all kinds of stuff on those pics that screams walk away if u are looking to purchase as a real car!! But the car dose look good.
|
The invoice is a fake. I'd have to see better pics of the pad and trans, but.....
|
I have seen it in person at cars and coffee here locally it is restamped engine pad for sure after that observation I didn’t even go under the car to check any other stampings... someone will be very upset if they buy it as advertised “numbers matching.”
|
Well the seller is playing dumb here. Bidding is at $50K.
Im not seeing a $50K car here with questionable stampings and very amateur resto. Not alot of upfront disclosure IMO. Cut out hole for 4 speed doesnt look right. Invoice shows ZL2 for $79?? on a 12A built car?? lots of stuff not adding up here |
Rear springs are not original.
Kurt says the invoice is fake. The stampings look fake. Is the POP fake? |

We all know that fake POP's have been available for some time. The seller is being a little shady about his answers to questions - "let the car speak for itself". In other words, caveat emptor. The guy selling it may not have been aware of the monkey business before he bought the car himself. He may have been taken and is trying to cut his losses. But he should not be advertising it as a real L78 car either. Best to come clean on something like this. And the people who perpetuate these fakes burn me up. It dilutes the values of the true original cars. |
Car has been sitting on $50k, and with an hour left, I don't see it budging off of that. There have been several people raising issues with the provenance of the car being a born-with L78. Tach, brake system, and other issues.
I can't really get a good enough look at the engine stamp to determine very much. Does the location of the stamp play a factor? This stamp is in the extreme upper left corner of the pad. It looks to me like the well plug on the cylinder head would interfere with the gang stamp if the stamps are in fact placed on a fully assembled engine, as I think they are. Can anyone comment as to when / where the assembly stamps are done? I thought that they had moved the VIN stamp down near the oil filter area, since the pad is obstructed by the alternator when they moved it to the passenger side after 68. Yet this one is stamped with the VIN on the pad. It is a December car - did the VIN location change after this date? |

Sold for $50K. I have seen BBC engine stampings in this location.
Such poor pictures. The trans stamping doesnt look good to me. Better pics could have helped or hindered this auction. Reproduced invoice makes the whole thing suspect. |

Any way to determine if the protecto-plate is legit? |
I was thinking big blocks were stamped with the heads off??
Small blocks were assembled |

This picture of the engine assembly line shows stacks of big block engines, all with the heads and intake/exhaust manifolds installed. That is the time that the VIN is stamped, although you are probably referring to the engine build date/code. Does anyone have documentation or pictures of the actual engine assembly process? http://www.camaros.org/assemblyprocess.shtml#engine |
Big blocks are deck stamped prior to the heads going on and the plug on the front of the head will not allow a correctly placed stamp.
