JL8 Brake Caliper

1 Attachment(s)
Yesterday, I was working on my 67 BB Vette, and noticed this stamping on one of my brake calipers. Were JL8 calipers stamped?

----Not to my knowledge. Maybe somebody else can expound (Tim)!....Bill S

Steve Shauger's new 69 Z28 has JL8's on it, albeit a service package install. Perhaps he can speak to it Lawrence. Otherwise, Steve can sell the car back to me and I'll check for you:biggthumpup:

I have had several JL8 cars and never saw that before.

Is it maybe a date?

iluv69s 04-08-2024 11:24 PM

I was thinking possibly a date code.. I had a jl-8 car a handful of rears and never noticed that. ( but was not really looking)

The calipers on my 69Z28 JL8 don't have that

The ones on my car are not stamped either

I have never seen it either. What are the inner and outer casting numbers?

travlnz28 04-10-2024 07:01 PM

My original JL8 car did not have a stamping.

I did not see those stampings on my original calipers but OP, did you check the casting numbers to see if they are Corvette or JL8 castings? Also, did you look for a date stamping on them, I remember seeing a date (the month at least) stamped in mine. I could see where a shop would interchange them back in the day.
