Blackjack Headers

I acquired a set of NOS Blackjack headers. The part number is 3017. Unfortunately, I can’t find that number anywhere. Does anyone have an old catalog to match it up?
The story is, they were mocked up in a 1970 Chevelle but never used. Thanks in advance, Kurt |

Comparing w/ other Blackjack/Appliance Headers, they appear more Camaro like than 'Velle?:hmmm: 1'st pic below is your pipes compared w/ Nos '68-72 Velle pipes from this thread, note swept back angle of mid runners... https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1301952 2'nd pic is yours compared to 1'st Gen Pipes from this second linked thread, pass' side looks different for accessories perhaps but driver's almost the same other than pic angle?... https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthread.php?p=1260298 Also of note in the second linked thread is Member Whitetop mentions he has a Blackjack Catalogue. Best of luck! :beers: ~ Pete . |
I have a catalog. Remind me in case I don't post the information tonight.

Hi Kurt! Those look identical to my Appliance CH4s, which are for 67-69 Camaro. You can see mine on my build thread.

I put a lot of those Appliance headers on in the early 70,s when I worked at a local Calgary speedshop JB,s Automotive , very nice headers very equal length too. I have a set of CH3 headers for a small block Camaro been saving them for years. FWIW when Blackjack took over they changed to that rotating lower flange. |
Good note on the rotating collector flange, which is probably an improvement. The Appliance headers have four hole square collector flanges.

I have Tig welded the flange both sides before and then ground and Roloxed off the flared bulge. I also noticed the quality of the bends and port flanges etc got worse when they changed to Blackjack name. JMO. I put many different make headers on the 67-69 Camaros and Appliance was the only 1 that did not have any clearance issues with steering box/pitman arm or frame fuel line. etc. Wish they still were available. |
The Appliance fit in my 67 like a glove! I was very impressed when I installed mine.

W:eek2:W also cool they're B-Body! Note the 'Vette pipes are the only other application shown w/ 2" runners and 3-1/2" collectors. As above, they're similar to F-Body so may swap/fit one or both applications?:hmmm: :beers: ~ Pete . |
Thank you jbtech……..very much appreciated.
Pete, I agree with you, if I didn’t know any better, I really thought that they were for first generation Camaro with the pictures you posted…..I do think they’d fit…..and they’re 2” primaries…..like you mentioned. Thanks to everyone who replied, Kurt :beers: |

Hi everyone, Chevy admirer from afar. IÂ’m a Buick guy. Last year I bought a 73 corvette that came with a set of NOS new in box Blackjack headers. I have since sold the car but still have these headers. This thread is the most informative on the internet in my searching so thought I would try and revive it.
A few things I notice compared to other pics. A lot of NOS headers have made in Mexico on the AK5000 tag. These just have “Mr. Gasket California”. I don’t see a part number on the headers that match the above catalog, just number 95822 on the box. The alumacoat is thick and could be hiding it. Did Mr. Gasket acquire blackjack later on? Any idea what these headers are for? They are 1 3/4” primaries and 3” collectors. Thanks for your help! Louie |
Kurt,
Only you could end up with another set of B body big block headers. The NOS Appliance headers I got from you fit perfect. I'm interested in this set also if you elect to sell them. |

i am currently installing a set of blackjack headers on my 1972 el camino. i purchased these in the late 80s but am just now installing them since i removed the engine for a rebuild. i also have a 1965 el camino with a 327 in which i installed a set of black jack aluma coat headers. they are getting there. my question is - do they still make them?

I just saw square flanges and a cheap price, and took a gamble on them. |
