search was called off yesterday. Not much hope of them still being alive.

That's made the news a lot out here in the Phoenix area because one of the three missing men, Marquis Cooper, was originally from Chandler AZ. His father has been the sports anchor on the local NBC TV affiliate here for many, many years, and is extremely well liked. Sad story for sure, but not too smart on the part of the four fishermen who were way too far offshore in too small of a boat https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

It's a shame and a mystery what happened to the others. The survivor was on my sons little league team a number of years ago, I coached him, good kid, quiet, good player. Hope he can get over it soon. Craig

I can't imagine being out in the ocean 25+ miles, in a 21' boat. My father an I go out no more than a few miles, and the boat is 28' long. Then the boat was anchored too. Plus there was a storm on it's way. When you're out that far, you don't have time to get back in, if the weather turns bad. The whole thing was a disaster waiting to happen. Very sad for the families.

I'm with you Bill. I have a HUGE respect for the ocean. My boat is in a marina on LBI, NJ. Lots of fishermen there. Every Summer there is an accident...often fatal...that involves someone doing something stupid. To me, this one falls into that category. It made headlines because of the people involved but, sadly, this type of thing happens all the time. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif

In the Hamptons I've been out no more than five miles on a choppy day in a 32 footer. Man did it shake me up.
