1970 cardinal red RAIV Judge red interior ,four-speed ,390 gears , hood Tach gauges, formula wheel ,tilt and power steering power brakes . I bought this beast in 1978 in Syracuse New York still in the family !!������*♂️���� And still all original drive train.

What was the best engine back in 68? Any Ram air? My friend has a Springmist Green original 18k mile car that was his dads, who bought it new in 1968, No ram air, but a 400 4 speed.

My vote would be Ram Air II. They hit a sweet spot with that one and they run far better than expected.

The 1968 RA II was a package. High flow heads, special cam with a 4.33 rear. With just a little distributor and carb tuning, car will run under 13 seconds in the quarter mile.

Ram Air I also available in 68. The RA I had std D port heads. The RA II had the really good round port heads.

To clarify for the Chevy guys, the 1968 Ram Air was a carry-over from 1967. But in April 1968, it was replaced by an engine called the Ram Air II. This was the first of the round-port engines, which later included the RAIV, 1971-72 455 HO, and 455 SD.
