What you are missing is that when you buy a car where the proceeds are going to charity, you cannot write off the donation in full because you are receiving an asset for the price you paid&quot;,its not a true &quot;donation&quot; due to that. If you overpay for a car thats being auctioned off ,you may be able to write off the amount you paid over the market value of the car. </div></div>

So who is the big tax winner then, the seller?

Re: Barrett Jackson is on fire

i wonder how many spectators were there to see how their old car did in the auction? I know a B J auction was on my bucket list, and i wanted to &quot;check up&quot; on my old Camaro. It didn't make Pratt alot of money................and now that it's been &quot;outed&quot; as a re-body, (finally), it's just a VERY NICE driver, IMO.

If I had &quot;I-don't-care&quot; amounts of money I could be that guy. &quot;Oh, I bought a fake Hemi-car? Guess I'll drive the hell out of it then.&quot;

J.Macneish is certifying 70 Chevelle's now, does he really know these cars like he knows Camaro's?
I doubt it.

I wondered what would happen with that old green Z/28 Pratt bought from a few years ago at a BJ auction. (The big VIN tag swap debacle)?

VIN 124379N509335 that turned out to be a vin swapped car after someone found the ad selling the vin and firewall tags and the VIN seller openly discussed it on Team Camaro?

Re: Barrett Jackson is on fire

WOW, I guess they listed it properly as a rebody at Pratt's BJ auction. That is crazy money for any 1969 Z/28 let alone a rebodied one!

And here is when it sold in 2008 at BJ Las Vegas. Note the difference in the description between then and now.

I wonder if in his certification report he mentioned the cheezy Chinese brake booster really, on a LS6
