What if GM had decided in 1969 to raise the engine limit instead of 1970. We would have had factory built RPO L72 and L88 SS Camaros. I find it interesting that the person that built this car picked Champagne - the least popular color of 1969.

Everyone knows that in 1970 GM lifted the no greater than 400 CI engine limit. But did it help Chevrolet? IMO . . . no it didn't because the only car that got a greater than 400 CI Hi Performance engine was the Chevelle - the LS6 SS 454 and only 4,475 were made. No LS6 454 in the Camaro, Nova, Impala, Corvette or Monte Carlo.

According to the seller, it has a 2.76 rear in it. That mean at 60 MPH, it's probably turning around 1700 RPM. Great top speed car but poor on acceleration.

The 1965 Chevelle SS 396 Z16 is the only mid-sized GM Muscle Car to have larger than 9.5" drum brakes. It used 11" Impala drum brakes.
