When and where did you say the plan is to show the finished car? I know myself and many others can't wait to see it.
|
A realistic goal if everything goes according to plan...would be to debut it at MCACN 2019.
We don’t want to compromise any portion of the restoration so I should have a better answer to your question next spring 2019. Until then I will continue to post updated photos of this remarkable car and it’s history with John Weaver the original owner. |
Wow, that car is amazing. That sheet metal almost looks brand new.
|
With such a clean rust free body we wanted to chemical dip all panels and parts that we could. The cost vs. labor was very reasonable...only $978 for everything.

Rich...that is my goal hopefully. John will be thrilled...I will fly him and his wife in for the reunion of him and the SuperMan car !!!
|
I am sure it will bring back fond memories of him and his dad the day that they bought it new and he will have plenty of good stories because his memory is very sharp

I wanted to post photos of the original holes in the tail pan for the Yenko emblem and 427 emblem with spacing. This being a 67 Yenko ...but being converted in mid March 1968 ..it received the 68 version of the badges.

After much consideration I was able to secure a killer original battery for the SuperMan car...R59 E5000 series top post battery . Woohoo. Thank you to all the great car folks .

The chrome is finally back and looks perfect ...all the big pieces and the little trinkets such as the original born with remote mirror and original born with SS Hood Louvers . We used Niagara Chrome . They are awesome. Pics coming soon. Our car update is we hope to have paint on the car by Christmas.

Well it’s early Sunday morning and I have been on the road since 6:30 AM going over to pick up the original owner John Weaver to go see the 67 Yenko ... it is only about a 35 minute drive or less from Greensburg PA to Frank Arone’s in Homer City PA. It will be nice to get some good windshield time with John. His memory is very sharp . Here is a photo of John (SuperMan) Weaver from 69/70

… You will both have a great time :flag: |
nice photo
Doug, I am curious if John recalls anything about hood pins? Many of the 67 Yenkos had hood pins installed by Yenko and was on original paperwork on some along with the 67 Yenko options headers, scatershield, gauges, traction bars, hi temp wires. This car has many options listed. I didn't see hoop pins on your paper work but your build is different then the average in many ways. keep up the good work |
Hey Joe .... I did reference the hood pins while speaking to John today and he said he installed them himself so that will not be much help. We did go through his garage and found some original keys as well as the key to lock the hood pins which is in a leather pouch in very cool . We also located a name tag of a former girlfriend that worked at the eat and park drive-in.... I asked John how the nametag ended up in the car and he looked at me and smiled as he laughed . I would like to speak to you about the G 7015 white walls because according to John they were already on the car when he saw it for the first time...And when you look at the original paperwork it is listed on page 2. All in all a great day with lunch and laughs. Joe I will email you some tire info.

That’s funny you say that because I asked John the same thing if her middle name was Sue and he said no and laughed
|
Great story, and great finds! Love the locking hood pins.

When researching the 67 Yenkos, there is info that they may have come with 14 in or 15 in wheels
According to a 67 Impala site, there were two G70 tire options PU1 G70 15 4 Ply White Stripe Tires PU2 G70 15 4 Ply Red Stripe Tires Yenko may have been able to get them with his special order |
Doug, John and Peggy might have had some hanky panky in the rear seat of YS760..
LOL Rich |
Rich....when I was teasing John Weaver and he was laughing...I am pretty sure your theory is 100% correct...I asked him how a name tag just “falls” off a blouse !
|
Good for him, ahhh to be young again playing grab a $$ in the back seat. I remember those days.. LOL

Lol Mr. Hanke ...how are the parts coming that we’re brought to MCACN ?
There is nothing better than an original owner who lived it with a great memory. 2019 will be a walk down memory lane. The original owner John Weaver will attend a few shows. Feel free to stop by and meet him for yourself and ask Yenko questions !!! There aren’t many cars that were driven by Don Yenko like he did this car . Lol |

Here is the original starter and distributor from the car. The cars build date is 06E and all of the bolt on mechanical parts dates have been right on top of the build date for the car ...exceptionally close.
|
Mr Tom Migut is my “Wizard” from Chicago that is rebuilding alot of my bolt on mechanical items ...such as starter, alternator, distributor, horn relay, voltage regulator. This guy is also good on plating. I highly recommend him. If anyone needs his phone number please let me know and I would be happy to provide it. Thank you Tom

Yes it is. Most all of the GM bolt on mechanical parts were reused on the conversion cars .
