</div></div>

as does the guy that promised to check out this car. it's boiling my eggs with every new development. wait til you get to the rust repair on the frame. check by front struts and rear trailing arms. I have had repairs in both those areas on 65 &amp; 66 big cars.
</div></div>

Checked the frame out pretty closely.......Those area's were solid....but...I found a pencil sized hole in the outer frame rail in front of the drivers side rear wheel......started pecking on it and it started to grow.....LOL.....I ended up putting in a couple of small patches after getting to solid metal....I was going to bring the wire welder home from the shop ( my cars are now &quot;Banned&quot; from coming into the shop)but it didn't work out....and.....The Princess left her purse out and I bought a new 115 volt welder for the garage....Wow!! what a machine......Technoligy has come a long way....Zapped the patches in place....Good as new.....sprayed some undercoating and except for the color it's good as new....

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC04558.jpg

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC04556.jpg

Also.....My mint survivor Grille had been smashed and straightened in it's past to where the bars would need some welding and straightening......It's the top grille in the pic's and it doesn't look bad in the pic, but, it's not of the quality I would put on the car after finishing.....So....I bought one off eBay that is perfect (lower grille in pic), but it still needs to be stripped,Bright Dipped and reanodized......$$$$ Love those Mint Nu Yawk cars...

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC04645.jpg

Also....I moved all the parts into the basement so I can sort thru and clean, paint, and detail for reassembly.......She's gonna be &quot;pissed&quot; when she go's down there....LOL...

Ken,
I didn't see a gas bottle. Is that a flux-core model?

I have an older Miller Cricket that I still use fairly often (in fact, I used it tonite to tack something on the hood of the '31). Handy as heck! I've thrown it in the back of the truck and done quick repairs on porch railings, basement window frames, exhaust pipes, .......... one of the best investments I ever made!

The Welder is a new Politically correct model........It go's both ways........It is flux core right now.....to switch to gas....add a bottle....change the welding wire and switch two wire in the machine and it's good to go....

Re: Next Years Power Tour Car

I'm waiting to get the car into the Body Shop right now.....kinda in that limbo mode where not much is happening.....But....The car was undercoated since new but the drivers foot pan had some rust from the inside, it didn't go thru but it thinned out the metal.......so, I did the Rust removal thing from the inside but I didn't want to leave it the way it was......so.....I pieced out a replacement floor pan section and welded it in over the existing floor.....I painted and prepped between the two pieces and tacked it in......then I sprayed a can of Boeshield around and in between the seams......then I put seam sealer along the seam and painted the patch.......I didn't want to cut out the panel as it wasn't really that bad....just thin, and since the floor pan had the undercoating from new......I didn't want to deal with that mess
of making it match........Remember.......this is a &quot;Driver&quot;...and it will be lowered....so when I'm finished it's gonna get Dirty underneath......&quot;And&quot;.....Stay that way......LOL

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...DSC04682-1.jpg

The windshield frame is like the day the car was built.....absolutely no rust....

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...DSC04683-1.jpg

Got the car out of the garage and into the trailer ready to go to the body shop.......Just waiting for the phone call

Gonna order Ridetech Coil Over suspension (tubular control arms etc.) that should lower the car a couple of inches and 4 wheels disc brakes......

Re: Next Years Power Tour Car

Ken, Let me start out (Again) by saying your work is Great! I was browsing LS1tech and came across your previous build and the car is Awesome! Then it was linked to this build, (took me 3 nights of reading for both!!) which you are yet again doing great work!

I am sorry about the car not being as advertised, but i also commend you on how you handled it! As car guys its easy to get our &quot; One Track Mind&quot; stuck on whatever we are trying to accomplish! But you stayed on tracgk for your goals and didnt dwell on it! And yes Karma is a BITCH! As long as you learned from the experience it isnt a loss!

I am working on my own project My Project Link
definatly not on your level, i am slowly acquiring the tools to get to that point! There were certain things I didnt do because of cost to have it machined, I have been researching lathes, mills etc for the garage.

I saw your disapointment with the brake line flaring tool you had in your previous post, I have this one, honestly they look better than factory, and will do the male side of the GM quick connect, so you could do hard lines without an adapter! And you can add AN flare dies to it! Mine is Bluepoint, but is just mastercool rebadged!

Since you changed the bodybushings it's a question of definition, I'd say you have had the body off of the frame. Maybe not all bolts were off at the same time but the body has been separated from the frame IMHO.

Re: Next Years Power Tour Car

Some of the purchased parts are starting to show up.......After doing the LS Swap in the 37 Ford, I was very happy with the way the Fuel system worked out....I used the GTO fuel pump/sender assy..........the GTO set-up does not required a Pressure regulated return line as it is a self-contained unit.......So.....
The new fuel tank showed up today and I brought a Fuel pump down to figure it out..........

New Tank

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC04774.jpg

Tank and GTO Pump assy.........LOL

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC04779.jpg

Hummmm!!!!! Now I just need the Pump assy to fit....I don't need the float arm function as I will be using the stock Impala Fuel Gauge sender.....So.....We need to get it as compact as possible......

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC04784.jpg

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2...t/DSC04785.jpg

I am just going use the original top of the pump to seal to the yet to be fabricated flange that will be welded into the tank and for the internal pump harness plug to connect to the external harness....All the existing GTO gas tank venting will be removed and sealed off .......It seems that everything will fit with a small sump area added to the bottom of the tank.......Ahh!!!.......The Fun starts

Before and after.........
