I looked into buying a ram which is a great truck, BUT if Im spending 60 grand on a truck I dont want it to rust out in 4 to 5 years. I bought a 2020 ford f150 and cant be any happier.

That piece didnt seem to get to the bottom or something and it looks like it just held moisture until it rotted out. I saw one that the bottom of the tail gate was gone last week. It is disgusting that with the technology we have there are still corrosion problems. I have had a new chevy diesel every year since 2010 and the first was 2008. I have had zero problems with all of them.

Yep, I know, they all rust away prematurely. I don't need a 2500 to get the diesel and I see Chev has just started putting a new inline 6 diesel in the 1500. Already reading about "glitches" with them, so I will wait a few years for the population testing ground to expose all the problems, and hope GM fixes them all.

I have heard good things on the half ton diesel from my chevy dealer. Over 30 mpg on the highway. That would raise the mpg in my Tahoe 50% when you can get one. He said they run good too. At least the Tahoe has a big tank!

She may want to rethink that. There's a reason you see WAY more Tahoes/Yukons/Escalades on the road than Expeditions/Navigators. Just ask me, I just received the 2021 Tahoe that I ordered back in August and traded in my problem-prone 2017 Expedition on it. I had a 02 Tahoe and a 10 Yukon prior to the Expedition and I doubt that I will ever be buying another Ford product. I don't think my wife would allow it :mad2:

I hope the diesel turns out to be as good as the Dura Max. I don't want a 2500. I only pull a 3500# travel trailer and my car hauler and would like the torque and, of course, better fuel mileage than 9 mpg with the 5.3

I've pulled the travel trailer far more with my '38 coupe than the truck. Last trip was last year to Pigeon Forge for the Shades of the Past show and driving the Smokey Mountains.

Point well taken and agreed with Bill!!

Fact remains the he/they are disenchanted with GM at this time. Keith is friends to some degree with every dealer in town so it's hard to say what they will end up with, guarantee it won't be Asian though!! (A sentiment shared by me!).

Since I am the OP of this thread I'll throw out this can of worms. Anyone else troubled by GM working their way down to world's number four automaker while climbing into bed with China? I'm happy with my '17 D-Max Silverado but since it's not my DD I plan on it being my last truck. I find new GM products un-inspiring.
To be clear, I bleed Chevy Orange and spent a couple decades in the service depts of Chevy dealerships back when our cars were new.

I don't know about anyone else's experiences, only mine and my brothers, but we've both owned Fords/Lincolns and they've been absolutely tanks and never break down. We had a 2008 Navigator that we put 175K trouble free miles on, and my brother is still driving his 2007 Expedition that he is giving to his daughter that was equally trouble free. The 5.4 runs forever with nothing other than oil changes. We liked our old Navigator so much we bought another 2014 and it's at 90K miles and still looks and runs great. We actually like the interior far better than the GMs (Tahoe/Esclalade/Suburban).

Saw my first C8 on the road today. It's "unique" in it's styling, but on first impression, I'd buy a C7 first, especially since the C8 is no longer available with a manual trans...:bs:
