Re: Yenko Vega W/ Pics
Only thing thats making me wonder is that i see no Yenko emblem on the tail panel... the pic is blurry, but it looks like the stock Chevrolet emblem in the center. Yenko *usually* replaced this with a Yenko emblem, (although i'm sure there were exceptions...) and each fender should also have one... They were the stick-on type, so there wouldn't be any holes in the fenders to see where they were removed if they were ever there...Check for evidence of a vinyl side stripe, if the car has been repainted there could be evidence of it still in the jams and fender lips. If it has any of this stuff still on it, i'd say its likely legit. The valve cover is definitely a real Yenko piece, and was actually cast by Atlas Foundry, the same place that made the 5 spoke mags for Yenko in 69. But...as stated earlier, these covers were available through their catalog too though, so it may just be an add on to a standard Vega GT that someone ordered years ago. I do believe all Yenko Vega's started out as GTs. From what i see so far, I'll give it a "definite maybe". https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
I notice the VIN is earlier than any posted in that list, but I also notice the VINs on that list seem to be all over the place as far as sequence. Could be legit... |
Re: Yenko Vega
Jeff,
You are referring to Danny Mamson and his Son from Roselle/Medina area. Those Yenkos were sold a long time ago. |

Re: Yenko Vega W/ Pics
Not really, no. Are there ANY other Yenko markings, paperwork, etc. The rear panel between the tail lights is where i was referring to there usually being a Yenko emblem. I also note it doesn't have the rear spoiler generally found on the back of Yenko Vega's. I'm not saying its definitely not a Yenko, I'm just saying I'd need more than a finned Yenko valve cover to confirm its pedigree. Check the glovebox for some papers, emblems, anything that might lead you to more history about the car.
BTW, how far is Lebanon PA from Canonsburg/McMurray PA? |
Re: Yenko Vega

how far is Lebanon PA from Canonsburg/McMurray PA? [/ QUOTE ] The car is actually near Clarksburg, WV. Which by my really loose calculations is about 2-3 hours from canonsburg. |
Re: Yenko Vega W/ Pics
OK, thought maybe the car was 10 miles from the dealership or something which would give it an even better chance for being real. Aside from the valve cover on the car, do you have anything else to link the car to Yenko? What does the title refer to the car as?

Hate to derail this thread from a while back, but earlier in the thread I posted an old school picture of our '71 Yenko Vega...anyway, in the mail yesterday was a package from the 2nd owner...stuff that he took to his mom's house when he got shipped off to the military...we opened up the package, and inside was the original Protect-o-plate, owner's manual, service manual, and an era Vega Performance book! Talk about a SWEET surprise!! Thanks Nick!!! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
