Re: 1969 Chevelle SS Daytona yellow
I've been on quite a roller-coaster since I originally committed to buy this car. Initially, the car looked terrific in the photos from 20 feet away... but I had no evidence that it might be a 375 horse car other than the seller's speculation. I too was squinting to see whether there was a single fuel line in that fuzzy photo?
The deal is done, and these clearer photos speak for themselves... some good, some bad, but I definitely have a cheesy grin on my face! http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...psgarqsztp.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...psel29ctrx.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...psj2uuwymx.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...pszeczwepp.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...pspw3akbhl.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...ps8rtvflrh.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...psiecuv5mc.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...psqc4kscuq.jpg http://i247.photobucket.com/albums/g...psatrxzq8e.jpg |

Looks great! The intact emissions decal is GOLD!

Congrats Helmut.
I look forward to seeing this one be saved. Perhaps I'll be able to help round things up when it reaches its first waypoint. |

Re: 1969 Chevelle SS Daytona yellow
I'm pretty much out of the loop when it comes to Chevelles, but curious...does that 4D tag stipulate a 375 horse?
I see the emissions tag but wondered about the trim tag coding? |
Re: 1969 Chevelle SS Daytona yellow
The 'L' on the Baltimore and Kansas trim tags seems to indicate SS396 on '69s but the paint code already proves that. Whether it's 325 or 350 or 375hp isn't coded into the trim tag.

I remember finding the intact radiator support plate and emissions label from my L89 El Camino, buried in the bed under a pile of parts. That really made my day! |
Re: 1969 Chevelle SS Daytona yellow
04D..........04 is March and D is the fourth week which was when it was built. Mine is 06C......the third week in June.

Correct......the "L" is very controversial but common sense says if a Kansas or Baltimore built car has the "L" indicates it as a SS........although there are less than a handful of documented Chevelles that have the "L" but aren't a SS. But there are thousands of documented SS cars have the "L" on the trim tag.
