Excuse my ignorance. Never had a Chevelle with Cowl Induction.

Why are all the cowl flaps in the open position when parked? On the 69 Z/28, they only open when you floor it. Are the Chevelle flappers open by default?

They are vacuum actuated -- when car is parked and engine off, there is no vacuum so they are open. When engine is started, vacuum pulls em' shut. During WOT vacuum is minimal and the cowls flaps open for cool air.

Plus there's a 2nd door inside the 1970-72 Chevelle Cowl Ind. Hood that opens electrically also to keep crap out when off,so it's system uses 2 doors, the Camaro only uses one.
Both the Camaro & the Chevelle use this same inner electrical door set up.
The Camaro doesn't have the outside Vacuum operated door.

Baltimore plant: December 9, 1969

According to records, it is not the first LS6: Nov. 19, 1969 - Kansas City Plant. The Autumn gold (no V/T) was fitted with a TH400 behind the LS6, and shipped to Haney Garage Limited in Haney, BC, Canada.

That is correct and that is one phase I have never used as I always believed that there was likely an earlier car based on research. It is in fact #3 of the three that are known to exist. This one, previously owned by Mark Mitchell and now in the Brother's Collection, #2 is the Gold LS6 previously owned by Oliver Pask and #1 a White (also believed to be a Pilot LS6) owned by a member here. As of right now it is the earliest known LS6.
