There were over 160 American car manufacturers in 1919. That number dropped to about 15 by 1969 and the industry has consolidated at 11 in 2020.

Chevy’s 2020 Corvette has received its first recall, and it isn’t for frunks flying open … it’s for frunks staying closed.

Quote:

As of September 1, 2001, NHTSA amended the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) to require that all trunks (or frunks) feature a release latch inside the compartment to allow anyone stuck inside to escape on their own. While the C8 Corvette does have such an interior release, Chevy also equipped it with a low-power “sleep” mode that activates 10 minutes after powering off the vehicle. If someone—Chevrolet specifies “a small person”—should shut themselves in the frunk within that 10-minute window, the sleep mode could prevent that latch from working, thus trapping them inside.

The good news is that Chevy has an easy fix. You don’t even have to go to a dealership; GM will use an over-the-air software update that allows the Corvette’s Body Control Module (BCM) to “lower the voltage required to wake the vehicle from the low-power “sleep” mode, thus providing adequate power to the interior frunk latch for an indefinite time after power-off. As a practical measure, however, just make sure the frunk is latched before you get into any shenanigans.

A question came up in the eBay section about this car's options. Mid year Plymouth added the Performance Hood, Sport Stripe with 383 callout and rear spoiler as options on the Gran Coupe. I believe (???) it was around April of 1970.

The Sport Stripes are V6X which is not on the tag. V5X is which are black body side moldings. J81 is the rear wing type spoiler - not on tag. N41 is dual exhausts with turndowns - on the tag. N42 is missing - the exhaust with tips through the rear valance panel. M91 is luggage rack which is missing on the car. M21 and M25 are moldings. A62 is Rallye Instrument Cluster Package. B51 is Power Brakes. Though the car has hood pins, there is no J45.

Conclusion. It's a 1970 Gran Coupe made up to look like a 'Cuda. IMO, would be worth more money as the fender tag shows then with all the Cuda additions. As it was built: one of 341 (4 speed 383 4-V)

Let's turn the clock back by millions of years to a time when crocodiles as long as buses lived in the Americas. A new study of Deinosuchus fossils has revealed more details of what these mind-boggling predators looked like and how they behaved.

Deinosuchus, which can be translated as "terrible crocodile" or "terror crocodile," ate dinosaurs, notes a paper published in late July in the Journal of Vertebrate Paleontology. The massive animals lived between 75 million and 82 million years ago and would have been at the top of the food chain. They had teeth the size of bananas

Actually it a pre-production GTO. Notice the 400 callout emblem on the rocker panel. That was dropped when the car went into production and the GTO decal was added to the rear quarter panel.

If you are wondering if these Coke cans contained cocaine . . . nope. That was removed in 1929 when Coke went from a medicine to a soft drink.

Wanna start a nice debate? Look at the A12 Bee. Which way are the "Six Pack" decals leaning? In this example, it's learning backward toward the windshield. Most are leaning forwards. Care to guess which ones are correct?
:dunno:

Geeze Dave . . . did you use a magnifying glass to see that? I can't see squat!

It was very common back in the day to use preproduction cars at shows like the photos above. This might have either been before or right after their use for brochure photos.

You can see that Chrysler was "jazzing" up their cars with aftermarket wheels. Nothing screams muscle car like those all chrome Cragars.

That's Elmer Duellman's rig, from Fountain City WI.
IIRC he bought the Daytona new and has very few miles. He also has a matching Superbird on display in his museum, four large buildings of mostly unrestored survivor cars. One of the largest pedal car collections on the country line the walls.
The automotive toy collection building alone is worth the visit!
The museum complex is in between Elmer's vintage "junk yard" which is cool too, and Elmer's Auto, late model salvage, ran by Elmer's kids.
I've heard that the museum may not be open much longer.

Do any of the 12 Knafel RAV survive today? I don't recall ever seeing anything other than the photo posted above.
