Love to know more info too as that's the exact questions I had back in Post #120. Whether those two the same car or not, it's doubtful the '69 L88 Nickey as Post #133 above in Chicago is the one in Cincinnati as Post #117 being both ads are 05/70?:hmmm: Here's a 11/70 Reno ad for Bank Repo '70 Nova 4-Sod. w/ what sounds like an LS6. :beers: ~ Pete . |
If the 68 Chevy II in post # 132 was a real bb car to start with,
that would make it possibly less than 4 months old when the f/s ad was placed. Wow |

Gene Marmor was a local stock car legend. He race at Chicago's Soldier Field when they raced stock cars there. His shop was well known for working on race cars and performance cars. The very First NicKey Chicago shop I had opened was in Gene's former shop. I rented from him. Very interesting Character. The shop was just South of Thatcher and Grand in River Grove at 2627 Thatcher. Not far from Gene & Judes Hot Dogs. https://speedsport.com/racing-nation...ene-marmor-87/ http://www.kalracing.com/Autoracing/Gene_Marmor_Bio.htm |

Great update Stefano, very cool you knew Gene also had your shop location there. Here's an 04/79 CA ad for a '69 Nickey 427 Nova, sounds like an L72 w/ 4-Spd. and 4:88's. Ad notes a White car w/ Blk. also CA Plate WWX-416, anyone ever know of any real White '69 Nickey Novas existing then/now also if any possibility of gaining full VINs from CA Dept. of Vehicles by providing old Plate #'s + VINs missing last 6? Strange how known car guy ads are mixed in w/ these Nickey cars but note bottom ad for a '69 'Runner w/ two engines, is this Art Carr the tranny guy?:hmmm: :beers: ~ Pete . |

The Orange Country Register was the paper I used to work for in high school. I don't remember any Nickey prepared 427 Novas in the area. I would have most likely seen it out and about-as I had my big block Nova back then as well-in the same time frame. Kinda cool to know there was one in the area! With the license plate being WWX-416-it had to be registered around 1969 in SoCal (maybe the owner worked MCAS El Toro?)....as my brother's 1967 RS/SS was plate UEY673 and registered 3/1967 in Fullerton, Ca. This was the original registration for the Camaro. :beers: |

Cool stuff Bruce, amazing you worked at the same paper then also were so close to the White Nickey Nova. Great plate info too but besides indicating it was a CA car in '69, would this in any way also indicate original owner selling or did CA Plates always stay w/ cars when sold so could be a few owners later?:hmmm: Here's an 08/76 Louisiana ad w/ Phase-3 ZLX Motion car, no model noted but 2-Dr. Post so likely a Nova? There's pics online of others but what's anyone know of any Motion '75 Nova Supercars built/existing? :beers: ~ Pete . |

Sorry for straying off track w/ the '75-up cars but they're a cool part of the BB Nova Supercar story also some of the last gasps of real performance available w/ EPA etc making it difficult for conversion groups or any Chevrolet Dealers still doing such a thing. Looking for info on the above '75 ZLX Phase-3 Motion car, I was reading the below Super Chevy mag article which mentions Motion cars but seems to push Nickey also notes little about the Hopper Chevrolet 454/450 conversion Nova they had on hand to test. What years were Hopper offering Supercar conversions also what Hopper BB Novas or other of their cars are known built/existing? :beers: ~ Pete . I bought a bunch of emblems back in the day from Eddie Hopper in Garden Grove-I used to run and get parts there also, when I worked for Hardin Oldsmobile in Anaheim. There and Cone Chevrolet in Fullerton...and Guaranty Chevrolet in Santa Ana :)

Next is another Santa Ana ad from 01/77 w/ L88 Nova @ $450! Hard to believe price, no year noted but CA Plate HSY-465. :beers: ~ Pete . |
