I think that's when I had the 302 race motor. It was 12.5 with the 1st design service cam. Didn't like to idle real well with mufflers. Car was ordered new with 4.56 gears. That's still the same...Joe

1973 Formula

Three pictures of my 1973 Formula some time in late 1973. This is the car we factory ordered for my girlfriend (now my wife of 42 years), hence only the 350 was spec'd. Less than a year later she got a company car and sold the Formula to me. It replaced my decrepit 68 Cutlass.

These three pictures are of my high school friend's 1970 Corvette. He was too late to factory order a new 69 L-88 Corvette. So Brigance Chevrolet had him order a 1970 with the LT-1 motor. Joe Seputis (Vetteran Automotive) worked for Brigance at the time. Upon arrival from the factory, they dropped in what was the latest version of L-88. Called a "ZLX". Joey C. (my friend) drove out of the dealer with a brand new 1970 ZLX dealer built Vette. It had a 4:88 rear end I believe. Not sure which Muncie it had. I think Joey C. still owns this car. He went on to have Seputis built the motor even wilder. General Kinetics cam, tunnel ram manifold, etc. He eventually turned it into a full Custom with a lot of body mods., for the 1970's show circuit.

My first car the day I brought it home. That's me in 1980. Car still had original paint. I had to buy a new grille and headlight cover hinge to get the hideaways working again. I think it was $18 for the new GM grille at the dealer.

It even looked good with the steel wheels and dog dish it came with. Would love to duplicate it with a SD 455. On the bucket list....

You'd cry real tears. It REALLY got worked over. Whole nose was changed, rear deck was made into a fastback rear window. Heavily sculpted. Interior completely color changed from the original Black leather to include a "cool" mini b&w TV cut into the dash.

Craig_Maiorana 12-27-2017 06:20 PM

Steelies with poverty caps would look slick as well

Baby Pictures

Here is my 1969 Stage 1 Buick Gran Sport I got in 1972. It came out of Gross Point Park Michigan and was suppose to be a factory executive car. It had every option Buick offered in 1969. Those are a set of rare Motor Wheels on it with G60-15 RWL Goodyear GT's. It beat 440 Chargers, 396 cars and a LOT of Fords back in the day. Unreal torque. The next picture is from 1988 of my 1972 SS-454 Chevelle from Arkansas. A Real 55,000 mile W code 454 car with buckets, console Factory A/C, AM/FM TH400 and 3:31 Posi PS & PDB. My 2 sons in the Chevelle picture are now 34 & 31 years old. Someone please help me rotate the pictures.

Bill

Do yourself a favor and come to next years MCACN show, pull up a chair and sit with our group or any number of groups and listen to the stories of cars and our exploits from back in the 70's and 80's. No other time like it. The cars were amazing and the stories and memories even better.

What about stories from the 60's Rick??? Oh, I guess I'm showing my age....

Here's mine, March of '68. Day 2 was well underway by this time. And a year later after I could afford some shiny wheels. Looks exactly like that today.

SS427 12-28-2017 03:50 PM

Sorry, great stories from the 60's as well. Unfortunately I missed those though you should have seen my souped up trike I had. ;)

I'm sure that trike was documented with POP and two build sheets, probably had a clothes pin retaining a playing card in the spokes to mimic LS6 motor noises, and restored to MCACN Concours Gold standards! :beers:
Too bad you missed the 60's, the golden age IMO. :3gears:

SS427 12-28-2017 08:59 PM

Playing cards yes, paperwork no. I was well into the 80's when I realized paperwork would have any value. Also had the handlebar streamers. :)

Here is our survivor '67 427/390 Vette during the second owner's tenure. This is nearly immediately after he put the car in storage from about 1979-2017.
