Re: Tone Blue

Well, I have to admit some bit of defeat, man I hate that! Work is keeping me way too busy and the H-1 racing season has started with Webster Racing. There is a ton of work to do to their new boat and guess what? There is a lot of painting to be done before the first race. The race is July 4th weekend in Madison Ind. And I wanted to have it on the road by the end of June. Good things come to those who wait!

Re: Tone Blue

I have to retract the last post. I am not defeated! Headliner is in and the back seat is done and some interior parts are installed. Gonna take it easy for a while and not rush it. Rome wasn't built in a day!

I do like that color combo Jed... IT is GREAT! Your attention to details is awesome as well, I love to see them restored correctly (overspray, runs on parts etc) even if they are done DAY II.

Re: Tone Blue

Very nice! Keep up the good work and keep the pictures coming. Paint finish looks very flat. Do you still have finger prints after all the color sanding?

Jason

Re: Tone Blue

Finger prints? No finger prints in that paint job. Just a little dusty from sitting in the garage for a month or two. Hee hee. But it didn't take that much to get out the orange peel. Needs a final buffing and some detailing.

SuperNovaSS 06-03-2011 04:38 PM

Re: Tone Blue

Sorry Jed,

I should have been clearer. I meant do you still have fingerprints on your fingers after all the sanding it must have taken to get the clear that orange peel free.

Re: Tone Blue

Honestly, it didn't take me all that long to get the orange peel out with the Matrix clear. It is a nice high build clear. Buffs easily too and the price is great.

This side hasn't had much media attention. All glass is in and the vent window frames are on along with the painted top moldings and corners.

Same as passenger, minus the vent window. Repop frame broke after it was installed. I just tested the window and the welds broke on the frame. But, a new one is in it's place. Temporary rocker molding until the fender goes on.

The rear end. The "non" SS trim panel, and not the plastic one either.

Rear body to bumper seal with stainless staples. No glue, and I made the staples.

Minor details of the two inspection marks that I had found on the oringinal trunk weatherstip, or atleast what was left of the original.

Coming along nicely Jed. Nice detail and often overlooked one with the staples. Fun wasn't it....

Re: Tone Blue

Jed looks great. I really like the 2 different colors. What did you do for your bright trim around the doors and quarter windows? Are they original or aftermarket. If original what steps did you use?

Jason

Nova Jed 07-29-2011 02:05 AM

Re: Tone Blue

Thanks Rick. I lucked out on the staples. The impact strip was so good that the original holes were still good. Just found the right size wire and bent up some stainless. I don't like gluing that strip on anyway.

Jason, they are repops. I would have rather used originals, but most of the other trim is too. Kinda hard to find good used originals. The other stainless had just been buffed out really well.

I have to say that I am very impressed with the amount of views that I have on this thread! I have been trying to get more pictures of progress, but as some may know, I'm laid off, the weather hasn't been the greatest in PA, and finding the right parts to complete my vision is tough. All of you have had very positive things to say about the work that I have done. I APPRECIATE all of it, because without All of you, in the hobby or industry, this car would not be what it is. So, from me, NovaJed, I thank all of you!

It truly has become more about the friends than the actual cars.
