Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Kurt, I have a Chevelle traction bar from a 1969 Chevelle, 12 bolt rear, it really helped the chevelle's hook up and eliminate wheel hop, they were very popular back then, let me know if you want to try it, pretty easy to install, it just may get you into the mid 12's.
Very nice car, mike |

Very nice car, mike </div></div> Thanks for the offer Mike but I put some QA1 adjustable shocks on the car and the wheel hop is gone. They're not vintage but it's better than broken parts! Kurt |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
I received a phone call the other day from my engine builder to let me know that they made a mistake on the dyno. He said that the "corrected" setting for the weather was not set. He will be giving me a updated printout with the corrections but he was thinking it will come out around 450hp vs. 421hp. Not that it matters but it sounds good!!! :-)

Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
I have been doing some research on a phone number that Dan Vasic gave me that was on a For Sale sign under the back seat of the Chevelle. As of right now I received a PDF of the Chicago Tribune from September 15, 1977.
The ad reads as follows: "CHEVELLE '69 SS396 4 sp Body gd cond., 1k. new 402 H.P., tri-power, 12 1/2-1 pistons. Much, much more. Must sell. $1500 or best offer. 252-5964/456-3198." Does anyone recognize the numbers or the area around Chicago that they may be in? Also, I blew up the ad and pasted it into a Word document. Is there a way for me to get it onto Photobucket so I can display it? Thanks, Kurt |

It was too late to edit the post above, I had looked in an old tradin times I had from 1978 and it listed 456 as being in River grove not Norridge. |

I have hit a dead end for now. It appears that in order for me to go any further I will have to go down to Chicago Library and get the Micro Film out and look the numbers up that way. Good thing there aren't a lot of people that live in Chicago!

I had a friend drive my Chevelle Wednesday while I had the camera rolling.
He went through the gears but short shifted the first time. I told him to wind it up to 7k.....this is the result. http://youtu.be/pzTTuHeDVRk Kurt |

Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
The car is a lot of fun to drive and it's only going to get better with the few changes I have for it the future.
Albert, the camera I'm using is a Replay XD. It's really small and very handy. They can be mounted to a helmet, remote control cars, boats, air planes. I even mounted it to my visor. Replay XD Kurt |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
I went to Union Grove today to see how the new/old intake works. Well, it's hard to get a good idea when the track was like ice.

Dan wanted me to post a video up of the "slight" rear gear change I made. It's a quick video but needless to say I need to get the M/T ET Streets on before I take it to SCR15.
BTW....Sammy, you'll enjoy this! Kurt Rear Gear Change |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Love it! Where did you place the camera? On the Sun Visor? Good-bye 12`s, hello 11`s! Let`s pray for good weather conditions at SCR15.
I may even race you with the BM Tribute Chevelle, it`s got a 3 barrel....don`t worry Just as Joel made them to order Dan |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Glad you liked it Dan. The camera is clipped to the visor.
11's......I doubt it but I hope to get closer to mid 12's which is still a lot from my best of 12.9. Kurt |

Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
Keith,
Good to see you on here, look forward to seeing you at SCR15. Your a month too short, I just detuned the car for the owner.....I took out the Clutch Turbo and put in a Muncie 4 Speed. The car was faster with the Automatic. I never turn down a race.....looking forward to it! My guess is.... I`ll be looking at an N25 Bumper at the finish line http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9/P1010133.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...9/P1010128.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...8/P1011435.jpg Dan |
Re: SOLD my 1969 SS396 300 Deluxe Post Sedan
I took the car to Great Lakes Dragaway last Thursday for a little TnT.
With the 780 vacuum secondary, 163 intake and 3.73 gears, the best time I had with the car was 12.90@108 with ET Streets on the car at SCR14 in Joliet. I changed the carb to a 850DP and the intake to a Edelbrock TM2R. The gears got bumped up to 4.56's. My first pass was . After some small adjustments and a few more passes, my last run was a . Here's a picture of my last launch which was at about 4000 rpm's.
