Re: BE 12Bolt

For 68, if it had the copo sports car package 9737, the trim tag will tell if it IS or NOT. Can we get a pic of the trim tag?

Re: BE 12Bolt

I just re-read the post - and the trim tag was in the pics....so, from what i can see, its not a 9737 copo car nor a yenko or non converted car. At least based on the data we have about yenko's and non converted cars.

Ed, Are you talking about a Mirror Magic tag? Can anyone explain why the Yenko cars got the special tag? What others got the tag?

Re: BE 12Bolt

Yes the magic mirror tag. We have seen some export cars with the MM tag....these cars were reg V8 and 6 cyl.

Yenko cars got the MM tag, plus the large sway bar and 140 speedo.

Great score. Looks to be all original and intact.

Please post the casting date and assembly date for the posi unit.
From your picture the assembly date will probably be stamped on the counter balance boss like the one I have attached.
The casting date will be by the crosspin bolt head.

Thanks in advance.
Eric

Re: BE 12Bolt

Why did the 68 Yenkos get the special tag? Was it only the COPO9737? Thanks

Re: BE 12Bolt

I believe it had to do with the "normal" tag stating something about meeting all federal regs. or something like that...and that's why the export cars don't have the normal tag also... I was wondering about that too...so the Yenkos were not meant for street use??..and what was the difference on the export cars?? Did they come with less standards?? no seatbelts or side marker lights or what??

Correct me if I am wrong on that..I am going from memory of a prior thread....

Re: BE 12Bolt

In order to create a 68 yenko car, it had to start out as a 9737 copo car. This special option coded car was avail to yenko chev only thru GM special order dept.... a special deal worked out with Don and GM. These cars got the special hardware and trim tag and special MV coded(stamped) 396/375hp motor. It is believed the trim tag was necessary to work around the US emisions, fed regs etc. The 9737 cars had all the necessary seat bealts, lights etc...and from what i have seen, so did the export cars.
