This Bright Red 71 Challenger convertible is a 383 car that was purchased new at Mansfield Motors in Richwood WV. This is a factory Shaker hood car. The R/T option was not available on the convertible in '71 so this is just a plain Challenger with sport stripes. This car was restored by The Finer Details and was at MCACN in '18 where it was a Concours Gold winner with 999 points and a Platinum Dodge winner. It was featured in the September '19 issue of Mopar Collector's Guide. L. Playmale had this car at the show.

----I could be wrong, but I believe this LS6 was in the Carl Strohm collection for many years. Carl was a good friend and this car is a beauty. Pity who it belongs to!

Dick installed a '71 body on his '70 chassis and that is the car Dick was driving when he was killed in '71. This chassis was recreated to match the original chassis. This car is only used for Cackle Fests and runs on 100% Nitro. B. Potterfield had this car at the show and cackled it several times during the day.

----Bill was also at the Eye's on Design at the Edsel Ford estate a week before MCACN. It was good touching base with Bill as I hadn't seen him in a few years at least. Sad, as his wife has passed, but Bill is still cookin along. Same guy I raced back in the early 90's!....Bill S

Yes, I believe you are correct. I think there was a sign with it at Bloomington Gold saying it was previously from the Carl Strohm collection.

I went up to the Red Barns Spectacular at the Gilmore Auto Museum on Saturday. There were only about half as many cars there as usual. It was 90 degrees and very humid so that might have had something to do with it. I only took a handful of pictures. This 56 Bel Air is painted Bizon Orange and Champagne Fizz. It is powered by a 383 with a TH350 and is sitting on a Roadster Shop chassis. H. Schuemann had this car at the show.

This car is a 1932 Chevrolet Cabriolet. It has roll up door windows & a lay down w/s frame. A std feature of the Cabriolet was the rumble seat. This car was built by Fisher body.

The roadster used side curtains & has no door glass. The Roadster was built by Chevrolet Body instead of Fisher Body

I dabble a little into the early 30s Chevrolets :)

It's funny, that little Chevy looks pretty sporty, and those Cadillacs are beautiful, but that Duesenberg is on another level. It looks years ahead of the others. Stunning.

This car is a 1931 Chevrolet Landau Phaeton. It was way ahead of it's time & Chevrolet didn't sell many units for the 2 years they were made, 1931 & 1932. This was a full convertable in which all passengers were under roof. All the side windows rolled down & the divisional bar between the side glass was removable. The windshield layed down on the cowl. This car also has an integral trunk. Today hard to find & one of the most expensive cars to restore from the 1931 1932 models because of all the chrome. Even the bows were chrome....Joe

I think it was against the law to produce an ugly car in 1932. EVERYONE seemed to just hit it out of the park that year.

I was going by the sign with the car which I see is obviously wrong. So is this technically a 32 Chevrolet Confederate Deluxe Sport Cabriolet Convertible? From what I could find all 32 Chevrolets were Confederates. The Deluxe had chromed hood ports, cowl lamps and dual side mount spares. The Sport meant it had a rumble seat. Is Cabriolet just another name for Convertible? I found the difference between a Roadster and a Convertible was what was mentioned above.

Good job....Joe

I plan to be at MCACN on Saturday and Sunday taking pictures of my favorite cars there so if you see a guy with a camera taking pictures of your car and writing down notes it may be me. I'll try to post my pictures on here before Thanksgiving. Have a safe trip and hopefully I'll see some of you guys there.

----A buddy of mine on Cape Cod restored one of these 32 roadsters in roughly 1972-3. The thing was a piece of artwork. Got restored for Len Immke who owned the biggest buick dealer in the world in Columbus OH. He had a huge collection at one point....Bill S
