----OK. Here is the story as I remember it. A guy from Minnesota (Steve H) found out about the 12 mile car and managed to buy it. Bob Adams from southern Wisconsin was friends with him and bought the car from him. Jerome knew Bob well and when he heard about the car he bought it. I believe the original engine was not in the car as the original owner pulled it in order to modify it further. The engine builder he chose stonewalled the build and the car sat in a garage for roughly ten years. OO died and the salvage yard ended up with it. When I 1st saw the car at Jerome's it was clearly a low, low mileage Corvette and an L88, but had many pieces that were changed out, probably because the OO removed them and they were lost. Original shifter was replaced with a 69 style (taller) and throttle pedal was replaced with an incorrect replacement GM pedal, and on and on. Terry C told me that Jerome paid for him to go to Seattle to buy the original engine, but I now know that wasn't quite true. Terry found and bought an engine but it wasn't the original. Because of that Jerome refused to pay him for most of the trip. As is well known, the L88 was later purchased by Dave Burroughs and Jim K (one of Classic Motors best customers) and a correctly dated complete L88 engine was procurred from Terry Michealis, and placed in the car and is in it to this day. David did a masterful job of bringing the car back to original. The drivers door was misaligned from the factory and never adjusted as that was the way the car was delivered. That's the story and it's possible something in my post may be a bit off as it was a long time ago, but is substantially correct!.....Bill S

They look stock but are far from it. Motors are punched out. Weight reduced from hidden areas. And they are running on stock tires - no slicks allowed
