November 2017 update
2 Attachment(s)
My brother Scott (owner of this '72) has been hard at work.
Current status update: Color has been applied! Still a long road ahead. Scott did the bodywork and paint. He's done a couple of his own cars in the past with our Dad who worked at a paint & bodyshop back in the 60's. Dad taught him a lot but it's still a learning process for Scott with the modern products available. Here are a couple of pics. |
Looks like your getting there slowly but surely.
|
We need more pics please.

This is coming along nicely

Sneak peek at the ongoing progress. Body and paint pretty much finished. New Cragars and tires. That old fiberglass L88 hood is being a PITA. They never fit right when they were new though. Still a lot of work to do.
|
Saw the update on Facebook; looks killer.

The goal is to have it finished in time for the Supercar Reunion 2018. Would be nice to have some Motion cars at the Reunion this year. I went last year and there were none. If you have a Motion car I hope to see you there. If you know other Motion car owners spread the word that we would like a good Motion Car turnout this year.
|
We would love to have your car and any other Motion cars attend. They are a lot of fun at the track!

Beautiful Motion man, keep up the good work. The color combo is really sharp.
What is the size of the Super Tricks on the previous pictures? I maybe interested if you want to sell! |

Chris & Scott ,
I have just finished reading your post from start to end. Firstly , Congratulations on your great find. Secondly it's great to see how you chased the smallest piece of information and ended up with fantastic results as far as previous ownership goes etc. Thirdly your progress and determination to take this fabulous car back to what it once was is commendable. I took particular interest in the results you had with NC DMV which are not short of amazing. I too am chasing the history on a car which was sold new in MD and originally titled in VA. Unfortunately I too have been unable to have someone run the VIN via NCIB. Whilst I did get some information from the MD DMV the critical information was redacted by black marker pen. I"m wondering if a long shot might be for me to try NC DMV. I googled NC DMV and all of the websites associated with the NC DMV vehicle registrations appear to not be working. Unfortunately due to my location I am unable to ring them and was wondering if you have any links to the online forms or email contacts that I may be able to use? I am happy to discuss further via PM if you are OK with this. Thanks in Advance for any and all information you may be able to offer. |

Guessing you've seen this one (formerly Wayne Schmeeckle's) but figured to share if not..great reference pics.: https://www.mecum.com/lots/FL0116-22...ion-phase-iii/ I've been following this thread since inception & am anxiously awaiting all news. Keep up the great work! -Mark Holman |
Update and answer some questions
I have been off line for a while, thought I would answer some questions and add some pics.
As far as the N.C. DMV or the NCIB helping me document the car, they would not help me. It took a senior DMV employee and Sharif to obtain the paperwork for me through the DMV. If you want to see what your state has for documentation on your car you probably need a friend who works for DMV or police. |
They are 14’s. The back ones are about a foot wide. You can have them if you want to pick them up but I don’t want to box them up and ship them out, I need to spend the little free time I have working on the car.

I am thrilled to announce this awesome Motion Camaro will be joining us for the upcoming MCACN show, November 20-21 for our REAL Day2 Invitational!
Can't wait to see this beauty up close and in person. What a great story! Bashton |

MCACN Day 2 Concours Gold - 1972 MOTION
For those of you not already aware, my brother Scott took the MOTION to MCACN in Chicago this past weekend, trailering it up 14 hours from North Carolina. Safe trip both directions.
Sunday afternoon Scott's MOTION was awarded Day 2 Concours Gold by the MCACN Council of Concours Judges! MCACN was an awesome display to behold overall, with so many beautiful cars of all makes and models there. The best of the best! I applaud the organizers of this incredible event, and appreciate the work of the staff and Judges at the show. WOW! I didn't want to leave to catch my flight home on Sunday! Looking forward to next year! Pics coming shortly..... |

It was great to see Scott and his awesome Motion Camaro. The car is absolutely stunning - very well done restoration!
|
What a SWEET looking Camaro!
So much looks just right about this car, wheels, hood, sidepipes, stance, etc! Reminds me a lot of this car which I found years ago surfing the net and have drooled over ever since. http://www.rabbitstoys.com/pics/THE%...PICS%20365.jpg It was owned by Randy Miller from North Carolina. I've also seen his name attached to several Yenkos in the past. |
nice to see it done. I remember it from about 2007 when it was found.
|
Very nice, congrats!

Congratulations on the Well Deserved Award. The car is Stunning, and all-the-more impressive knowing Scott did the restoration himself!
Here's a few more pix from this past summer at SCR 24 in Bowling Green. And another side note; as Scott was leaving the National Corvette Museum on Saturday, Mr. Bob McClurg pulled the car aside to do a photo shoot before loading into the trailer to head back to North Carolina. Scott/Chris, could you keep us updated on the outcome of that shoot? Hopefully a magazine feature in the near future! |
Beautiful car! Some of the guy's in the photos (me) not so much lol

That Motion Camaro is bad ass. What a clean car:biggthumpup:

I had such an awesome, overwhelming time at MCACN. I didn’t want to leave Sunday. Hopefully someday I’ll have a car worthy of attendance. I did have a 1990 ZR-1 20 years ago. That’s the last performance car I’ve owned since then. Still looking and waiting. Have a Mortgage, and a daughter in college, so nothing happening soon. But I do have a big shop with my own lift so I’ll be ready! Thanks everyone for the comments & thumbs-ups! |
That is one sweet looking car!
Well deserved. R |
