Kevin W asked if there were rivnuts uder the console and there are, original console, ZL2, and D80 car. Looks like somebody along the line modified the shifter hole to fit the shifter.

Sam, I think your Z is in great shape actually. The floors and trunk area look solid and free of rust, which is a good sign. I will give you a call in a day or so. I added something new to my stable. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif

Sam, did you find anything interesting in the car during the tear down?

On my tunnel under the console was painted in Hugger Orange "Mr Moto". Wait til you see the car after being stripped and cleaned up Sam. It should look something like this.

That looks pretty darn good Jeff, How about starting a thread for your resto with picts? A rare JL8 resto would be pretty cool. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif
Have you been out to Pennsyltuckey yet?

I haven't seen the car in a long time so I'm not sure where he is regarding the paint. Yes, I'm going with those Stahl headers that look very similar to the dealer sold headers.

Sam, the mule has the same blackout treatment on the front floor as your car. I wonder what is the deal with it?

Jeff, nice job on the resto...was the metal bead blasted or wire brushed to look like that?

Jeff H 11-03-2005 04:32 PM

Re: 1969 Z/28 Restoration Pictures

The car was dipped at RediStrip and then Rich and the guys at the shop hit it with wire wheels to clean it up. We found both quarters had lots of little dings, dents, holes and other repairs as well as the rear panel so they were replaced with NOS GM panels.
