Re: feb. 71 copo
Don't get me wrong, the paint on the car isn't bad, it just isn't completely original.
The story goes that back in '93 when the original owner decided that the car was looking a little tired, he pulled it out and had it appraised thinking that he might sell it. After rekindling his love affair with the car by getting it out and running again and realizing it was gaining some real value, he ended up doing more work to it and investing more $ than he originally intended and decided to keep it. I think we all know how that goes... During it's brief "freshening" in '93 the car was treated to new carpet, door panels, a full exterior repaint and the original bumpers were removed and replated. I think some weatherstrip has been replaced, along with the tires. The spare in the trunk is a Coker repro that the owner purchased to match the 4 70's vintage Polyglas tires he was able to source for the car in the early 90's. I think it's been mentioned the Camaro was delivered new with Firestone Wide Oval RWL tires. I don't mean to take anything away from the car, just saying it's too bad my buddy didn't find it back in '93..and leave it 100% untouched. It's definitely one of the nicest, unmolested, all #'s matching 2nd gen Camaros I've ever had the chance to get familiar with. I've never been a big fan of 2nd Gen Camaros but the more I get familiar with them the cooler I'm thinking they are. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |

what did the original owner say about ordering for the rear spoiler? [/ QUOTE ] This car is an April car. The other window sticker posted by RSSSL78 is much more relevant since it's an early car, looks like a Sept 70 build. And D80 is clearly an RPO on the WS. Question answered. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif https://www.yenko.net/attachments/164...dowsticker.JPG |
Re: feb. 71 copo
I notice that one WS shows a D80AB and the other shows a D80AD. Did the change from the 1 piece rear spoiler to the 3 piece rear spoiler result in a change to the D80?? option code?

Re: feb. 71 copo
Here's a pic I recently took of my 71 shifter knob from my 71 Z/28 when I owned it in '75. I had a console, but my car ended up with a knob with the shift pattern on it that you'd find on a non console optioned car.

https://www.yenko.net/attachments/165368-FullView.jpg My friend has mentioned recently that he is seriously considering selling this '71 Z28. Unfortunately the $40,000 asking price is way out of my range (I'm saving my $ for a project Supercar https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif ) but may not be for some of the members who frequent this site. If anyone's interested, PM me and I'll give you my friend's contact info. No finder's fee asked or accepted, this is just a good car that deserves a good home. I'd be glad to put a bona-fide Camaro enthusiast in touch with the owner.

Re: feb. 71 copo
Looks like the trunk leaks. Have him replace the trunk seal with the seam by the trunk lock.

Re: feb. 71 copo
It seems by 1971 Chevy got rid of the windsheild antena and moved it the trunk. I did not know this.

Re: feb. 71 copo
mosportgreen66 are you talking about what looks like a cable going from the trunk into the decklid? if so it's about a 15 inch black plastic wire cover for the single wire that is typically orange in color & goes to the trunk light.in 71 the windshield still has the antenna in it.

Yep, it's definitely not an antenna. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif
