Is that a "period" at the end of HARRELL, or some feeble attempt at the "trademark" logo? Nobody trying to clone the Dick Harrell crest would be silly enough to put a "period" at the end...would they??? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif nuch...I doubt anyone here would be interested in supplying you, or anyone else, a REAL DH crest/badge for your 3D laser copy effort. The DH crest/badge is a propriatary product, to my understanding, and trademark infringement is serious business. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif SS [/ QUOTE ] The Ebay auction for this incorrect repop emblem seems to actually be the Harrell family selling them??? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=7974399171 Look close at the fonts on the original to repop.. the "A" and "R" are clearly way off. I guess the repop is good enough for a clone though.. |

You guys must be wrong. Don't trust your eyes. You weren't even there.."back in the day"...

Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
Steve,
The "period" is actually a "registered" mark ( R in circle ) but it is tough to see. Steve |
Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
Steve,
To your response about the "proprietary" nature of the original emblems, I don't disagree. However, I want to make it clear that I have no intention of marketing any such item even if I did recreat it. I merely want an exact emblem for my collection. When I got the emblem off ebay, and learned that it came from the Harrell family itself, I expected it to be correct. I was, and am somewhat disappointed in the "incorrectness" of the emblem. My many thanks to you guys for helping me realize this. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/worship.gif Steve |
Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
No worries, Steve, I wasn't trying to be the DH emblem cop...I just know that, according to public filings, DH and Gibb copyrights/trademarks are an issue of some sensitive debate presently. One thing I am sure of though...there is only one Jesus. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/grin.gif

Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
Speaking of Trademarks!! Type in 'us patent office' then go to " us Patents & trademarks" then on the left side under Trademarks ,click Trademark Search, Under "select the search form" click New user form search{basic} Then Type in fred gibb and hit "submit query" open both items & read them. WOW

I suppose Mrs. Gibb agreed to that.

I looked at the Trademark information on file - thanks.
I assume Helen is Mrs. Gibb. If so, how could Valerie get ownership of this without her knowledge? Doesn't make any sense. All things being equal. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif Steve |

Why would the Yenko organization allow that and not sue the offending party into the stone age? Or, did they? Steve [/ QUOTE ] They did not pursue it, and really had no grounds to do so. After selling the dealership in 1982, and then Don's untimely death in '87, no one kept the mark up. They could have done this one of two ways, either by using it in commerce on a regular basis, or renew the original registration. |

I think that talk was several years ago. [/ QUOTE ] Kim, I had to go check and make sure my memory was working right this is the post I read last summer..and you are correct she says it was a conversation they had awhile ago. The bottom paragraph is what I recalled reading. General / Discussion / THE EVOLUTION OF THE ZL-1 CARS Jul 7th, 2004, 9:29pm Started by TimLopataForgeShow | Post by valerieharrell Dearest Jimmy, Thank you for stepping up to the plate and straightening out this ZL1 issue! Also, you are more than welcome to be as long winded as you want! You may even have to post two or more posts to get all the facts written. For those who may or may not know what this is all about, there are some extremely slanted stories that are being quoted by certain individuals that are being written by a few well known car magazines. I will scan and post those articles. In the meantime, the DHPC guys who have the grease under their fingernails from turning the wrenches on the ZL1 cars ARE still alive, mean and lean, with minds as sharp as ever. And I am certain that they will be commenting on this subject. Mostly, I am very thankful the most of DH guys who are registered on this site, who have computers and that Jimmy Elgan, and the rest (Dave Libby, Glenn Powell, Larry Leatherman, etc) have stepped up to correct the slanted stories that are being published by Primedia and Buckaroo Communications & other mags. The next best thing would be to contact the person who is rewriting history, i.e., the publisher, & editors of the magazines for a retraction, just like I am attempting to do myself. Then per a conversation I had with Helen Gibb over a year and a half ago.....I called her after 33 years after Dad's death (I thought I was doing a good thing by finding her phone number & wish her a Merry Christmas), "Valerie, just so you know, your father only put a few parts on those cars, Freddie did all the rest." Well, to say the least I was so hurt and speechless. Dad DID teach me to NOT disrespect my elders....and certainly the elderly. I politely ended the conversation and went on my Merry Christmas way. However, I have to say that I was deeply hurt & sadden ..... and certain that Dad would be upside down right now if he knew that he only put on a few parts. It's a real shame because Fred Gibb was a TRUE gentleman and Fred & my father had great business partnership. If not for the Dick Harrell crew, DHPC and Dick Harrell, no one would have ever heard or known of that little Chevrolet dealership in LaHarpe. |
Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
Guys!
How did we digress from the original subject matter? https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif I guess I started it with my questions/comments about the DH emblem I recently purchased. Seems I even got an email from DHPC inviting me to return the emblem for a refund. I was trying to learn more from this gathering of friendly and knowledgeable people about the "reality" of the whole DH thing, not bash anybody. If anyone got their feelings hurt, I am sorry for that. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif I hope this topic can continue on the opening questions I had about the DH 69 Camaros. This has been quite an informative topic thus far. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif Steve |

Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
Jason,
I meant to ask you this earlier in the week. Can you tell me more about the L-88 conversion of your DH Camaro? How many other DH Camaro's were L-88 conversions? How did it run as compared to the L-72 conversions? Love to hear more. Steve https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif |
Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
Budnate, What has happen in the past with Helen Gibb & Valerie I don't know. The reason I bashed the emblem is real simple, my car on the Harrell site has been bashed from the day I put pictures of it up on both sites. I didn't say a word about until they got personal. That's going too far. That's another story. When I saw Valerie had trademarked FRED GIBB's name I started to wondering why? I knew her and Helen didn't see eye to eye. The first trademark is for toys, race cars, shirts etc. Valerie owns her dads 69 funny car and in order to put FRED GIBB on the side of she would need to register the name. The real concern is the second class she has registered. Fred Gibb ,organizing & conducting automobile exhibitions & displays. Why would you want this?? My question is this, is she wanting to take over the Fred Gibb Reunion Car show?? This is my big concern. Kim

Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
Kim I dont know...guess we will have to see what happens down the road...I can see now this is a sore subject with many, I have not followed it closely and now wish I would have just sat on the side and read the posts.

Re: Clarification on Dick Harrell 69 Camaro's
That "train" got derailed a few days ago, so now it would appear things could be resolved amicably in a couple weeks, or the hard way in a couple months. This hobby just isn't the right place for head strong egos, lawyers and greed...it's a shame really.
