Do a little something on your project everyday, and it will get done. A bit more trimming and additional glue work and the rear will be finished

Looks great!

I'll start a thread on it soon. I worked on the distributor and the fuel unit today just to get it running like I know they can. This thing is KILLER!

A ‘60 FI ….. Nice!

Can’t wait to see a new thread on this one.
Pop that hood, we want to see that aluminum unit.

Is this color Roman Red?

There’s something about those old vintage oil change stickers.

I painted the center dash carrier along with dying the dash pads. I reinstalled the dash pads today along with the windshield trim. In all, I'm pretty happy with the color match.

Between yesterday and today, some more parts came in. The one item that really suffers in roadsters is the interior, including the gauges. The temp gauge and tachometer colors really fade back. I sourced an NOS temp gauge, a restored tachometer, and got the clock back from Clock Works. Once I have the cluster apart, I can determine if I need to paint the needles. I'll also see how the gauge cluster carrier cleans up and determine if it needs to be painted. Not as easy as the survivor cars:wink:

Tim,

Having owned a couple roadsters in the late 70’s in Springfield Illinois I noticed that those hot summers definitely took a toll on the interiors.

But having the top down cruising with your girlfriend was a must.

I’m sure this Red ‘67 roadster interior will look close to new after the Tim Touch.

I have started the thread on the 60 here.......

This car is Honduras Maroon. They had the color from 60-62. It is one of my favorites in these solid axle cars

My experience with dealing directly with AAC for the carpet in my Chevelle was, they were very willing to work with a person to get what they wanted and may well be willing to leave that backing off for future people looking for that option.
As far as I know, the Dark Copper color carpet I have in my '66 was never offered by Chevrolet and possibly not any GM car, but ACC makes these on site and offer ANY of their available colors to be pressed and cut to the vehicle it is intended for.
Always worth a call to inquire about modifications...

At least in these cars ACC offers it with and without the backing. I elected without as the underlayment was nice, and fit like a glove (having 59 years to get comfortable in there).

olredalert 02-22-2026 09:14 PM

----Thanks for the heads up on that backing, Tim! I haven't done any carpet installs in quite a while. Good to know....Bill S

Get the clock going on the bench for a good amount of time (lol)

The cleaning under the dash is complete, everything is rebulbed, and the front rugs are glued in. I was happy to find the body build number under the dirt

In all, I'm happy with how the interior has progressed. When cleaning under the dash, the remainder of the firewall insulation (very fragile) just started coming apart. I'm going to spot in the damaged areas of insulation, as it is a judgeable item

Too Many Projects 02-26-2026 06:30 PM

That insulation dries out so bad that you just have to look at it and it falls off. Amazing any of it stays on. Hope you are wearing a dust mask and using a HEPA vacuum to clean it up.
The cleaning does look great ..

napa68 03-11-2026 09:51 PM

I moved over to the 67 for today. I wanted to test the NOS temp gauge I sourced. That worked out perfectly. The speedo head was kind wonky, so I sent that to Roger at Speedometer Service. That should be back today or tomorrow. Then I can assemble the gauge cluster and get it installed.

I started cleaning the steering column, and diagnosed a bad turn signal switch. I have one on the way in
https://i.imgur.com/rtQpEORh.jpg

Then a bunch of little items on the car. The dash center is reassembled, seat belts cleaned and reinstalled.

TimG 03-11-2026 11:05 PM

The dash pads and center portion look great, Tim.

napa68 03-12-2026 02:42 PM

The speedo came back in late yesterday, so I could get the cluster assembled and reinstalled. Once the turn signal switch comes in, I can get the steering column reassembled, installed, and then secure the cluster into the dash (it's easier to install the steering column with the cluster loose on 67's due to the change in mounting)

Z282NV 03-13-2026 04:39 PM

Tim, it looks "Wonder Bar!"

napa68 03-19-2026 07:31 PM

I started disassembling the seats for a good cleaning, and polish the hockey sticks. I'm just using a fine hair brush to get into the texture of the vinyl. These are the original seat covers, and wanted to keep them in the car. I also am going to shoot the seat backs, as those always get scratched up
https://i.imgur.com/VB7bH9zh.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/W76GSPMh.jpg
https://i.imgur.com/C4W3vYFh.jpg

I also had polished the chrome on the center console, and then repainted the "red" section. I tried to clean up the aluminum accent insert as well as possible, as the reproductions are detectable. The new directional switch is installed, and thus I could get the column installed and the gauge cluster secured

The Corvette and the front carpet looks great. How is the weather in your area for the road test?

olredalert 03-27-2026 06:57 PM

----Boy,,,did that come together well. Just gorgeous. I' particularly envious of how the carpet has laid down as that's always a bugger!....Bill S

I hear longing in those words, Tim. What do you have to sell to fit this one in the collection...

Rear alignment in the cards?

napa68 04-21-2026 12:14 PM

Here are some pics of the completed interior. I'm pretty happy with the outcome, especially when one considers how much of the original interior I have tried to retain.

I have my first outing with the car in a few weeks at a Chapter NCRS meet, then on to Bloomington Gold. Once that is completed, I'll get some more time behind the wheel to ensure the car is well sorted for it's next owner.

Too Many Projects 04-21-2026 12:40 PM

Your attention to and meticulous level of detailing make the car appear like a model with zero use on it. It feels more like looking at a factory prepared advertisement for a new model introduction than a 59 year old vehicle.

dykstra 04-21-2026 03:31 PM

Looks stunning Tim! Bravo!

carnut4life 04-21-2026 08:54 PM

I don't know how this car could look any better Tim. The new wheels and tires are a perfect compliment with the white top and that scrumptious red interior. Bravo indeed!

WILMASBOYL78 04-21-2026 09:19 PM

I'm not really a Corvette guy, but this red beauty is amazing.
