Congrats Steve.
Do I need to be on the lookout for some Motor Spyder wheels to fit the new ride? |
Car looks even better "In the flesh". Was wondering if you were going to drive it or trailer home. What are your plans for break in? Lots of differing opinions on the Hellcat board. Some guys that swear by SRT's recommended break in while others drove it like they stole it out of the box.

At 12:30 PM, a new world record...my son woke up and sent me the annoying vertical photos he took. Here you go.
BTW the orange Jeep Trackhawk with the crazy graphics was a trade-in. So was the white Challenger widebody with the black hood and front license plate. Which I think was a 2020 and had a sales sticker that said "NO FACTORY WARRANTY" so I imagine it was a tuned/modded car. |
BTW, I just noticed that it looks like I'm the only person who ordered a car with shiny silver wheels. Looks at all the photos I posted. It appears that every other Heck Kitty has black wheels on it! What a strange fashion statement by this generation of buyers!

https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...080&fit=bounds  :dunno: Your car will be worth twice as much when the people realize they don't really like the black wheels as much as they were told they should and the "fad" changes back to shiny... I love your insisting on REAL paperwork too. All our utilities and bank keep sending us crap to drop the paper and save the planet. I tell them to stop wasting their AND my time with their endless harassment. It all, eventually, gets recycled anyway. |

And the junk in the trunk:
Who needs a spare tire when you can have subwoofers instead? |
Congratulations!

I got around to installing the mudflaps. They are made by a company called ZL1-Addons. They come highly recommended by the Dodge crowd. Great product - uses the factory push clips to hold them on versus the Mopar ones that you have to drill holes to install. Ugh!
And I removed the front spoiler, yellow plastic, shipping protectors. You get shamed if you leave them on. I attached the meme they post when they catch someone who refuses to remove them. |
That's a beautiful car Steve, have you actually driven it yet? My question is are you going to drive this car and have fun with it, or are you going to let the car sit in your garage for the next 10 years and then sell it on Bring a Trailer with 25 miles on the speedo?
|
It's a driver. It's gonna take me years to figure out all the gadgetry in the center display on the SRT pages. It has everything but an altimeter...or maybe I haven't found that option yet. :hmmm:

Nice car Steve. I just saw on the Silverado/Sierra board that Koons is offering invoice pricing on a limited number of new trucks now too.

Saw this one in St. Gallen, Switzerland last fall. Older gentleman stopped to pick up his dry cleaning.
|
I can't imagine what he pays for premium fuel to feed that thing over there!
|
Car looks great.
Regarding wheel and body colors, tastes come and go. Just do some reading on the most popular colors by year and they change. Which version Challenger is this, 707hp? |
1 Attachment(s)
It's the 797 horsepower (actually the 812 HP Redeye version) which is basically the Demon engine rated 100 rpm less on the power curve so it doesn't upset the previous buyers. Here's the blurb that a guy on the hellcat website does for people if they send him the window sticker for info.

And I spent the day adding a set of modified T/A stripes to the car. I had them made without any T/A logo and in burgundy color so they look almost like ghost stripes.
Of course I happened to pick the time of day this evening where the light hit it at just the right angle to where they totally disappeared any time I tried to get a photo. I will try to get some better photos tomorrow in the sun. But it looks really cool. I got the idea after seeing the maroon 1969 Camaro with the factory red hockey stripes. This car: |

Here it is:

Oh, and I have a total of 100 miles on it as of today! Really racking 'em up!

----Love the subtle stripes, Steve!!!.....Bill S

Thanks!
They really pop in direct sunlight! |
Looks great!!:beers:
|
Love the stripes, great job!
|
My wife REALLY loves the car. I now have to hide the keys in my safe so she doesnt steal it to drive to her job at the high school, where she already is known as "the cool lady with the Dodge Charger."
No need for her to upgrade her status when she is already at the top. |
And I may be in the minority, and yours is sharp for sure, but the wide bodies are pretty killer looking too.
|
They do look cool (but not $15,000 cooler for the price bump to get a Jailbreak edition!) Plus all the grief that you have to go through with the rock chips on the fronts of the rear flares.
Owners seem to have an even worse time than the '70 to '81 Trans Am owners do with the rear flares getting sandblasted by the debris coming off the from tires. The current fix is to have the flares covered in the PPF film before the car ever sees the road. |

The wide body (which I Love) reminds me of this, but much better executed!!
|
Not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, but I gotta say, that 1978 "super" coupe picture doesn't even belong in this thread. Gives me chills thinking of the dark days (1974 to somewhere in the 80s).
|
I like the stripe, subtle and works with the body lines.
These new Challenger/Chargers are prettty wild. |

Probably the most not-used mode on the internal performance pages on the center dash monitor: ECO MODE. (Versus the TRACK, SPORT, AUTO, and CUSTOM modes.)
I am trying to put some miles on the car to get to the 500 mile mark to unlock all the restricted function(s) that may or may not be available on the Redeye til you hit that mileage mark. The line-lock is one that I can think of off the top of my head. I had a 90 mile round trip to do today so I put the car in Sport mode on the way out and Eco mode on the return trip back. Here's the incredible results: SPORT MODE: 23.3 MPG ECO MODE: 24.0 MPG An absolutely amazing solution to the entire gas crisis we are undergoing at the moment. |
Only a .7 mpg difference for ECO ?? Sport Mode all the time and hammer down...:cool2:
|
Regardless of what mode it is in, your right foot is the biggest variable when it comes to fuel economy.
I realize we are almost 40 years apart in technology, but my 1983 BMW 745i (factory turbocharged gray market car) only gets 24 mpg. I probably have close to 500 lb. ft. of torque (been modified a little) but because I limit my boost to 10 psi (kept breaking driveline parts at 15 psi) I doubt I have even 380 hp at the flywheel. Impressive for a 1983 car; today... not so much. |
I figure that the 24 MPG is still pretty good for the ambient viscosity of our New Jersey air. :smirk:
|
Beautiful car. How comfortable are the front seats?
|
They are nice. They seem to be the same seats as in our 2014 Charger - nice and wide for us "full figured" guys.

The hood stripes finally arrived yesterday. I took around 4 hours to get them exactly matched in terms of location. Lots of taping down and measuring with a yardstick and masking tape to get them in the exact same spot on the multi curved hood surface.
I like how it turned out. It accents the hood scoops very well and makes them pop up from the surface now. My wife actually said this is the coolest car we have ever had! (and she drove a Viper before we got married!) My son really likes it too, though he is bummed he can't drive it. I made a wager with him that if he got straight A's this semester at college, he could drive it. (He's in his junior year as a math major, chemistry minor). The grades just posted. Soooo close: four A's and one B. As a consolation prize we drove it to the gym this afternoon and did a Crossfit WOD together. Hey, the kids got abs, what does he need a cooler car for anyway? (he drives a Camaro) |
The stripes do look great.
As for the son not getting to drive it...with the course load he must have for those 2 you listed, I think he deserves a short drive for that monumental effort. I couldn't accomplish that in 30 years... |
Yeah you’re right. I already warned him about the horrible Pirellis on the car. We might have to get a set of Michelins Pilot Sport 4S’s or even the Nitto race tires. It’s dangerously tractionless without them.
|
So close! Was the B in a math or chemistry course, or an elective?
Cool stripes! |
