Love your last 2 pics, especially this above pic of everything laid out.
I would chose that Blue car over a Judge.

What was the best engine back in 68? Any Ram air? My friend has a Springmist Green original 18k mile car that was his dads, who bought it new in 1968, No ram air, but a 400 4 speed.

My vote would be Ram Air II. They hit a sweet spot with that one and they run far better than expected.

The 1968 RA II was a package. High flow heads, special cam with a 4.33 rear. With just a little distributor and carb tuning, car will run under 13 seconds in the quarter mile.

R68GTO 09-28-2021 11:47 PM

Ram Air I also available in 68. The RA I had std D port heads. The RA II had the really good round port heads.

442w30 09-29-2021 02:46 AM

To clarify for the Chevy guys, the 1968 Ram Air was a carry-over from 1967. But in April 1968, it was replaced by an engine called the Ram Air II. This was the first of the round-port engines, which later included the RAIV, 1971-72 455 HO, and 455 SD.

Do those lug nuts look to be on backwards in the 2nd pick on the rear wheel?

If that's Jim Mino's Firebird then I already know how this will turn out.

The only thing I can add is it's the 1970 GTO ''La Vinta'' show car at the Chicago Auto Show. Further research produces nothing.

I think they're previews of what would become Honeycombs.

You didn't mention it but that is the back side, near the shop doors, of Royal Pontiac.

One of my old GTO's, this is a '67 400HO TH400 car with some nice options. An original CA black plate car that "had" all of the original and functioning smog equipment when I bought it. Of course like many did, I removed it all and tossed it into the trash and changed it over to the more attractive 49 state setup with the open element air cleaner. I also changed the color from Linden Green to Regimental Red which I regretted later after seeing a freshly restored '67 Linden Green GTO. That's just what we did back then.

60sStuff 10-05-2021 02:40 AM

I like that lower body Regimental Red with the upper body Cameo Ivory, BUT
that lower body Starlight Black with upper body Cameo Ivory is my preference.

More vintage photos of a 3x2’s 4 speed ‘66 GTO in Florida.

Marina Turquoise with matching painted wheels that was available in this particular color with the standard hub caps.

Looks like the license plate is 66?

Has it’s correct seeing eye cap R59 battery in place and the big ear radiator cap.
Looks like an oil pressure sending unit which would indicate the Rally Gauge option.
Power Steering.
Door edge guards.

I’m not sure what that is on all 3 fuel lines. Looks like tape?
I can still see the 5178 written on the front carb bowl.

Here is a picture of my 1965 GTO, it is original paint and interior. I have the PHS on the car. Starlight Black and Black interior. 389 3x2 360HP M21 4 speed with 3:90 gear. It was a race car from new in the Michigan area. currently has a 400 block in it with the tripower. Great running and driving car. The car currently has Cragar and Hurst cheater slicks on the rear for a more period correct look.

Me too, the 60’s gas pumps with their high octane option made those muscle cars run like they are supposed to. Plus that purple gas smelled great.

Select 260.

chevyandpontiac 10-18-2021 11:01 AM

Tony at one time it was in the Detroit area. I will have to ask Bob where it came out of.
