A friend of mine alerted me to this car last week: Burgundy with red stripes... http://www.classicmusclenj.com/Cars/...9Z28%20003.jpg [/ QUOTE ] This looks like the same car that M22mike restored... Rich |
Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
Close Rich...it was this one, factory hood, Ed Stinn Chevrolet car.
Not a rare combo, red stripe was the default color when no top was ordered. I think https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif ....cool thread anyway.. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif Oh yea...and I did not chose those tires https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif Mike http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...e/IMG_0923.jpg |

Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
I enjoyed seeing it in Chicago, Joe. Cool car and pretty colors.

Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
I think back to looking at a 1969 superbee, rally green with the green MOD TOP or I also saw a 1970 AAR cuda that was blue with blue interior and a blue MOD headliner. or the yellow 69 barracuda's with the MOD top and interior. WOW!!! the power of weed!!! Rare cars no doubt. and I would say unusual
|
Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
I've met the guy who developed the Mod Top - believe me, there was no weed involved.

It's been a long time since I looked at one though. Back then you could special order just about any combination you wanted. I think white houndstooth was only available the last half of 68??? The one you found is the only other one to surface in any body trim(SS RS Z/28 plain jane etc). Any more cousins out there??? "Dalmation Trim" is just plain rare with any color exterior |

I am looking at buying a 1967 RS camaro. The car is deep water blue, light blue interior, white vinyl top.

This car is much more attractive than I imagined. It needs to be displayed next to Joe's car that is white with black stripes and orange interior. Both beautiful cars.

Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
This is my 69 RS/SS. It's kind of a rare color combo. Cortez Silver with Midnight Green Deluxe interior, Black Vinyl Top and Stripes. Also came with XT wheels (that everyone keeps trying to talk me out of https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif ) https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif

How about my 68 L78 nova. It is sequoia green with a black vinyl top and ivy gold bucket seat interior. I only know of three other sequoia green 68 L78 nova's. One has black bench seat interior, the other has ivy gold bench seat interior and mine with ivy gold bucket seat's. I haven't seen many 68 nova's with this exterior color! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/beers.gif

Thank you very much for the compliment Tim. I have owned this car longer than any other. Which Joe are you reffering to; and can he post any photographs of his car?

Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
The silver/green Camaro is pretty interesting. I've never seen a combo like that, but silver was kinda a flexible color - probably second to black or white as being something that goes with everything. On a hunch, I checked a color chart for another car that was available in silver, and lo and behold, green was a recommended interior for silver. Pretty interesting! http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/...harger0003.jpg
1968 Nova SSs are my favorite of that generation - I especially like the SUPER SPORT script on the rockers. But green and gold are not unusual in combination. I think of it more of a sedan combo rather than something that you'd find on a performance car. Richard, your car is wonderful. I always thought the orange houndstooth was pace car-only (plus Z10s too!), but maybe not? Was it RPO or special-ordered? I think it's much more striking than a while car with the same interior because the white car would remind me of a pace car. Keep the pics coming! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif |

Here's one for you guys. This 442 is a triple yellow, 4 speed vert and it is absolutely stunning.

Burnished Brown and a green interior? http://pic80.picturetrail.com/VOL826...5/12869063.jpg http://pic80.picturetrail.com/VOL826...5/23235072.jpg |
Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
------704,,,That triple yellow color was a featured color in 67 on Cutlass and 442 convert models. There still werent many of them but I have probably seen 15 or 20 over the years.......Bill S

Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
The Orange Hounds Tooth was a standard feature or RPO code for a Z10 or Z11 however the interior itself could be ordered with any exterior colour. It just so happens very few people found the interior an appealing choice with most exterior colours. My car was definitely a speacial order and having been built right before Halloween it has been dubbed "The Pumpkin" I have never seen another like it and feel very forunate to own such a car. I have the original micro fische build sheet and General Motors of Canada documentation. I will share additonal photographs if anyone is interested. Thanks for the interest!

St. Patricks day car. There were two 1971 W30 converts that are known to exist in this color combo.

I owned this car from 1997 to 2000. It has a Pacific Northwest Drag racing History.
It has traded hands a few times since I sold it and it is known as the "UPS Car". http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...ds/scan018.jpg http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...ds/scan022.jpg |

[/ QUOTE ] I'm confused, so I'll rephrase: Was the orange houndstooth normally available on cars other than the Z11/Z10 cars? Or did it have to be a special-ordered car if you wanted that interior? I know white, black, and yellow houndstooth were regularly available, but I've had the impression it was Z11/Z10-only. I could be wrong, though. |
Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
Good evening Bob,
Thank you very much, it was a pleasure meeting you as well. I quite enjoyed spending time with you and Fred both. The cars were exceptional and I can hardly wait to see the Rally Green car! I will once again be in the front building but this year has a bit of a twist. I will be showing my 1970 Plymouth Cuda, not a Camaro. Please search me out and I will do the same for you. I am going to be in and out as I have four children in hockey and all in in their respective playoffs. If you wish Bob PM me and I will forward my personal cell. Thanks, Richard. |

I beleive that no Z10 has been found with this interior (last that I heard). I had a Hugger Orange/Black vinyl top Z/28 that also had the Orange houndstooth. |
Re: Tell me about rare color combos!

Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
Hey Bill, do you still have your Hugger Orange car with Orange Hounds Tooth Interior? To the best of our knowledge my Canadian documented car is the only Tuxedo Black 1969 Z/28 produced with Orange Hounds Tooth Interior. There are some other cars found with the orange interior but no other black Z/28's. My car is also an original ZL2 special ducted hood car with white stripes. My interior including door panels are 100% original and unrestored. I love the car and wish I still had my 1969 Pace car which now resides somewhere south of the border! Thanks for letting me share guys!!!

Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
Hello Richard do you still have the Triple Black Z I sold you a couple years back. That was a bit of a rare car with power windows and the ZL-2 hood from the factory.
|
Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
Hello Paul,
I have never owned a triple black Z/28. You must be referring to a friend of mine, although there is no question a triple black Z/28 is rare and desirable! Richard. |
Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
Yes I guess it was Phil that actually owned the car.Does Phil still have the car ?
|
Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
I have seen 4 or 5 original Z10 cars, none with orange interior. Have seen two SS coupes, hugger orange exterior, with orange houndstooth interior.
|
Re: Tell me about rare color combos!
------Richard,,,That Z went to Texas and then on to a new home in Florida. Im pretty sure the present owner doesnt come on this sight..........Bill S
