Re: Original owner says car came with polyglass ti
I worked for Camaro Parts Exchange in the early '80s and distinctly remember selling Jerry B 2 of those tires at a swap meet in Indiana. Also, the car was photographed at the Hot Rod Supernats in the late '70s and it does not have OE tires on it in the photo.

Re: Original owner says car came with polyglass ti
Based on photo's of the car immediately after purchase in June of 1969 where one photo shows a 4-69 chalk mark on the right rear tire the original owner absolutely left the dealership with the Goodyear widetread GT tires swapped from another car in the dealers inventory.
Whether those tires are the ones in Daves garage right now that came with the car when he bought it is a different matter entirely. Jerry and all the owners I have talked to say they are and I can't imagine why Jerry would lie about it since the car has had two owners since then and he has nothing to gain by not telling the truth. As a matter of fact all the previous owners except Dave are disappointed to say the least that they sold the car when they did even thought each time it sold it brought a world record for that time. Jerry owned other muscle cars the tires would have been correct for so I can ask them what he did with the tires he purchased from you back at the swap meet. |
