What if no one cared to serve? Would we now be speaking German, Japanese or ?? God bless the US of A and the ones who serve. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif [/ QUOTE ] ok let's lighten it up a little here; https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif A U.S. Navy Admiral was attending a Naval conference that included admirals from the U.S., English, Canadian, Australian and French Navies. At a cocktail reception, he found himself standing with a group of half-dozen or so officers that included personnel from most of the countries. Everyone was chatting away in English as they sipped their drinks but a French admiral suddenly complained that, whereas Europeans learn many languages, Americans learn only English. He then asked: "Why is it that we always have to speak English in these conferences rather than speaking French?" Without hesitating, the American Admiral replied: "Maybe it's because the Brits, Canadians, Aussies and Americans arranged it so you wouldn't have to speak German." Suddenly the group became very quiet. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif |

and for all the men that served in the Big One;

At French Customs, he fumbled for his passport. "You have been to France before, monsieur?" the customs officer asked sarcastically. The old gent admitted that he had been to France previously. "Zen, you should know enough to have your passport ready for inspection." The American said, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it." "Impossible. You Americans alwayz have to show your passports on arrival in France!" The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, "Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach in '44 I couldn't find any Frenchmen to show it to. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/flag.gif |

Re: Ted Nugent; Deer Hunter vs French journalist
It is interesting to me that even today you can not find a thread on the entire Internet about Vietnam that does not eventually turn personal, bitter, hateful and then locked.
But, we are above that! Hell, we've got a pres on TV right now that is hinting of making us run corn squeezings in our hot rods! |
Re: Ted Nugent; Deer Hunter vs French journalist
"And it's one two three what are we fightin for...don't ask me I don't give a damn... next stop is Vietnam..and it's five six seven open up the pearly gates...well it ain't no time to wonder why.....whoope... we're all gonna die.." Country Joe and the Fish.....

[/ QUOTE ] Ray, That's because the whole war was handled quite badly from Washington's side. Then, these brave guys came home only to get spit on, etc.. That wound never heals. Now, they go into a quick-mart gas station and see a Vietnamese family working there and probably owning the establishment. Bitter, yeah, I think so. My father told me once that when he came home from WWII and went to college, some of the younger students would throw firecrackers and the like just to see the "shell-shocked" ex-GI's dive for cover. In those circumstances, they got their a$$es beat. The Vietnam era guys didn't get closure. It's our fault. We owe them more... OK, I'm done. |
Re: Ted Nugent; Deer Hunter vs French journalist
I do know that Courtney Love tells a story about Ted fooling around with her when she was 12. He started dating his first wife when she was 13. So he is at least a pedophile.
I love to eat deer though. I have on in the freezer. |
Re: Ted Nugent; Deer Hunter vs French journalist
The last time i saw Ted, was at a concert here in grand rapids, this spirit of the wild trip he was on killed the show for me, he used the word spirit in every song ten times,"I got you in a strangle hold baby SPIRIT" you get the idea. then he said he was going to run for governor if the democratic team won, can you imagine that? opening day of deer hunting would be a michigan holliday,i always liked Ted, but he always pushed everything a little far, this guy might not have done drugs or drank, but his well back home was a little shallow But his coment with the french journalist was on the mark.

What link does Ted Nugent have to Northwestern Illinois???
Well he went to high school in Arlington Heights...but his family lived two streets away from us in Palatine. He was at home for one Halloween...weird is all I can say when we trick or treated at their house. His mom was nice though..she worked in downtown Palatine. See Here for more info |

The real enemy was/is our own F'd up, lying, self-destructive govt. of criminals (I should not have read Dereliction of Duty by H.R. McMaster). Plus I lost friends and lived with my fingers crossed while my older brother was there. My brother is still so bitter and angry that I can't stand to be around him. I've seen him twice, without speaking, in the past 10 years...my mom's and then may dad's funeral. |
