It appears Dunlap was more than just a sales outlet. Here's an invitation to their plant highlighting the 25th anniversary of the Buick (established 1904?). This could be from around 1929.

Don, I would be jumping for joy if I got those items from the dealer that my car was sold at! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/cool.gif

OOPS - I don't know my anniversaries very well. I believe Silver is 50th and not 25th. So I guess that invitation and plant picture were from the early 50's https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/headbang.gif

Ya Bob. Every since I told my wife about this she has been whacking me in the head about my stupidity when it comes to Anniversary Milestones. DUH! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/dunno.gif

Re: Dunlop Chevrolet, Macon, GA
Found this for us all !
Kind of relates to wedding anniversaries but I think but it kind of works for other stuff too. I just realized I could have just bought my wife a can last year. • First – paper • Fifth – wood • Tenth – tin • Fifteenth – crystal • Twentieth – china • Twenty-fifth – silver • Fiftieth – gold • Sixtieth – diamond |
Re: Dunlop Chevrolet, Macon, GA
I better start saving...either my wife gets a new set of China...or we take a trip there! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ouguysrock.gif

Re: Dunlop Chevrolet, Macon, GA
How's this for a first post here bringing a 10 yr old discussion back to the top? I'm in Macon, Ga and well familiar with Dunlap Chev and George Youmans Jr., the present owner. Among my collection of cars I have an LS6 Chevelle and a '69 L89 Corvette that were sold there. My family bought a number of cars from Dunlap over the years. What's really sad is that there was a literal mountain of old records in the Dunlap Chev. building in downtown Macon for years after the building was vacated when a new facility was built 5 miles away. I'm not sure how they were organized, but could have probably been had for the taking had someone had the interest. I believe they remained there into the 90's, certainly the late 80's. I wouldn't consider that Dunlap was exactly a high performance dealer, but they did sell quite a few SHP Chevrolets in Camaros, Chevelles, Corvettes and full size.
As a side note, I have a friend of a friend who's family had a dealership up North, I think Illinois or Michigan. He's been going through their old records and has found some documentation on quite a few SHP Chevy's, I think including a Z16 and a good bit of L78 and L78/L89 stuff. I think he's going to be offering it to people who can match up cars. I'll put another post on it when I hear more. |
