Yes it is safe to assume all items are original unless specified. Steven was OCD about originality.

There was a sign when you entered at the unveiling of the collection:

Please

DO NOT touch, handle or fondle the memorabilia

NO drinks, food or smoking

NO REPRODUCTION signs or parts permitted beyond this point

At one point a guest took one of the entry forms for a draw that was filled out (from a stack for an original draw) and asked where it should go. Steven said "oh I'll take that". In typical Steven style he just smiled, the person was his guest.....and just didn't understand.

Bob, others familiar with this collection. Is it safe to assume everything is original unless otherwise stated? I have interest in numerous items.

Thanks,

You will not find any reproduction items in this collection. Steven was totally opposed to reproduction memorabilia.

I categorized about 1,000 lots of "smalls" including all of the contents of the showcases, all kinds of literature, 180+ race jackets and way too much more to list. None of this has been listed on the Mecum site yet, but it all will be.

I was telling someone, in the 35+ years of collecting and running a automobilia store for 10+ years, every collection I ever viewed or purchased had three piles when sorted; Prime, Decent and Burn.

There was absolutely no "burn" pile in this collection.

I assume it will all be on display at Mecum Indy. Worth the trip just to see it all.

Very cool. As a collector, I have a few Mopar friends who are planning to be active on this auction. There are quite a few items I plan to bid on as well. Can't wait to see the rest.

Are the Sheriff Joe Higgins glasses still amidst this incredible mix of stuff?

Yes. And a number of other Sheriff Joe related items including several stand-ups.
