Different strokes for different folks and that's fine. I was just curious on the thought process. As far as new "Yenkos", yes, I think those cars are something created for nothing more than marketing and to make Lynn some money. If Don had something to do with it, that would be something all together different. Time for some new original ideas.
The wearing team jerseys analogy doesn't work IMO. You aren't wearing helmets, pads etc to make you look like you're the real deal. I have plenty of Pats, Bruins and Sox fan clothes too. Nobody is mistaking me for anything other than a fan. The only reason why I asked this in your thread was because it looked like you had already gotten an answer to your original question. If that was wrong, sorry about that. </div></div> Lynn isn't making any money as she has nothing to do with it and does not own the Yenko trademark. </div></div> I wasn't aware of that Charley. I thought I saw something a couple of years ago where she was suing for the rights or something. Obviously I was mistaken. Thanks for the correction. |

She did sue and lost.

I could be wrong but I do not think Lynn gets a single penny from the new tribute cars as to the best of my knowledge the Yenko name was sold many years ago and along with it the rights. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. As far as my opinion on clones and tributes, everyone already knows what my opinion is on that. |
Re: 68 Yenko Badging
Not sure how you can call them tributes when the company owns the Yenko name and has named them Yenko's. You might not like it but they are doing it legally.

Re: 68 Yenko Badging
everyone has an opinion and there isn't any one more right than the next. its healthy and informative beacuse we are able to learn and understand each other's point of views here in these these forums. this allows us to get and give info that we might not have had prior to asking questions. we have Charley to thank for that by creating this little corner of cyber space.
again---for me my tribute car is a reverent tip of the hat to the automotive past. when these cars are gone, so is a little bit more of automotive history. my motivation has absolutely nothing to do with falsehoods & automotive trickery. the Chevy Performance 427 crate engine will be ordered within the next 2 weeks !!!!!! it's gonna be a bad ass ride... derek -- Rhode Island |

Legally, yes from what I now understand, but let's say for the sake of argument that someone owned the name Renoir or Monet and painted a few portraits today and called them their names. Would they be a Renoir or Monet or something else? Don Yenko was the artist IMO and everything created after is a knock off of his work to make a buck. Corporate reference, not necessarily private owners and builders. I'm not knocking the cars, they're beautiful. I just dont care for them badging them with the Yenko name. |
