110K for a 1980 turbo in the wrapper. I was sitting with JW and Tenney at R&amp;S Newport a couple years ago when J Dubs 10TH with 30 miles hammered for around 60k, and that one belonged to the man. How many tens of thousands of starlight black TA's did they make? Insane indeed.
Conversely, the monkey garage cat got whacked on his serial# one &amp; two gen 5 COPO's, what a look on his face.. </div></div>

Fun day - and cool car! In addition to Jim &amp; Joe (Dirt) provenance, it's a 4spd, and so has the 400 (last year Pontiac motor).

Per JW, they'd pitched a different interior scheme for the 10th, but GM had a bunch of silver leather and carpet kicking around from the '78 Pace Car and Silver Anniversary 'Vettes, so that's what it got.

Still in good company (and driven a little!) ...

I remember the mileage on the car doubling because they had to run it downtown for a smog cert before it ran across the block!

That car was on ebay this spring and sold for around $11,000 if I remember correctly.

That would have been a car parked at universal studios to promote the movie. They did the same thing for &quot;back to the future&quot;, universal studios had a delorean at florida and california. I would bet that universal studios in california also had a TA just like this one with the same plaque on the dash.

I wonder how much Burt got paid to &quot;promote&quot; the car?

That's right! I showed up late to class that day. Did you get enlisted to drive? Did J-Dub tell ya to &quot;make a little noise&quot; on the way out?!

This place has some nice T/A's very reasonable priced.

I hope he doesn't adjust them based on these auction results.

Re: 2nd Gen Trans Am$ at Barrett Jackson

Nothing magical as to why those T/A's are going for huge jack. As a prior poster noted, these were their dream cars growing up. Who cares about performance? The look alone is why these cars sold in huge numbers. Any car can go fast with internal work.

Cars like the 93, 96 &amp; 2000 Cobra-R's will be the next to hit the $150,000 marker. Just like the 87 GNX's did before them.

When I see a 1978 Corvette pace car with the L82 engine still in the wrapper go for $50,000 at the same auction it makes me question the TA prices even more. The Corvette is from same era and had a lot of hype ever since it was built.
