If sold in Canada when new, yes.

Subject Vin is approx' an 02B build which is about two months too early to be a 9796 car.
Sorry and someone wiser can clarify but I believe 9796 was first available mid April '70 and on?

Hi, I PM'd the original poster. I'm the current owner of the car. I had it dropped off last night from Portland, Oregon. Car is not in the best shape these days. I've connected with COPO, Joey Gray in NC and others on the car in question. It's a 02B-ish car, no cowl tag or any documentation. A few follow-up questions prior to hopefully hearing back from "70 LS6 Convert".

- From the factory vs. an install at some other point, how was the 3-piece spoiler attached?
- Since the tall spoiler became an option late April and this is a February car, "if" it came factory-installed, wouldn't that make it a COPO car?

Here is a post I had on the NastyZ28 site.

http://nastyz28.com/threads/1970-la-z28-copo.321191/

Additionally, the car looks like it was a black with stripe repaint of an original green mist car based on the color I saw from the interior.

Thanks for any additional information.

The Spoiler is installed the same way. the quarters and the trunk are drilled and elongated sufficient to align the spoiler caps to the center. The early AO Smith end caps were junk and a miss alignment of nearly an inch was common at the tips so shimming is required to get it close. Too much and you gain gap in other places...

If it is an 02B car, the spoiler did not come from the factory.

Take a look on the bottom of the truck lid for the mounting holes. See if there any other holes present. If so, then the COPO spoiler was added. The holes are different for the short spoiler compared to the COPO. A buddy of mine had a 70 Z with the COPO spoiler added, but originally came with the short spoiler. You can see clearly the mounting holes from the short or one peace spoiler.

If you look at the NastyZ link the OP sent there are some photos showing the lid has several extra holes that go to the short spoiler.

Not to mention that car is so bad even if it was an original COPO it wouldn't be worth resurrecting it. George Washington's ax!
