Thanks for taking the time to share the pics Dan. Anybody have comments on the LS6 Chevelle with the "engine built the same day as the car"? Anyone seen this before?

From the pics I'd say that engine stamping is home-brewed for that LS6 Chevelle.

It is possible for the car and engine to have been built the <span style="font-style: italic">&quot;same day&quot; </span>. The car build date (actually build <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="text-decoration: underline">week</span></span>) is probably derived from the cowl tag (A-D representing the 1st thru the 5th week of the month). This is the <span style="font-weight: bold"><span style="font-style: italic">WEEK</span></span> that the assembly of the car was started, but it may not have been completed that week. The build DATE of the engine is when the assembly was actually completed per the Tonowanda stamp on the engine pad. So it is POSSIBLE to occur. I remember several well-documented/authenticated cars with engine assembly dates and car build dates being very close together. However, I am not saying this car is as reported or that the engine pad stamping is original.

* Rick Peters (Mr 70) educated me on this awhile back and may be able to fill us in more on this factory process.

Sam,

You're right. The cowl tag indicates the body assembly date and not the date the body was mated to the chassis. Given the sequence of events required to build the car it is entirely possible. Also, as you indicated the body has a build week not a particular day. So, this could have been a Monday engine in a Friday car. Ed

The LS6 Chevelle was discussed beginning in July on Team Chevelle. Reach your own conclusions. I wouldn't be a buyer of this being an LS6 with all drivetrain components being the born-with components. Hopefully, for the buyer's sake, the window sticker and POP are at least the real deal.
