FIRST Car!! and Phase 3 car, Oh my. |
Re: 1970 BM Camaro slides
Ive been looking at these pictures and trying to figure out if the car had the FAIRLY rare VF-3 bumper option with the rubber impact strip across its entire face. This would have been the only way other than a Z-28 for the car to have the rear bumper guards. Seems like an unusual option to order for an otherwise all out performance street car........Chuck S/Seattle

Re: 1970 BM Camaro slides
Is it just the angle, or does it look like the SS emblem is upside down in the grille? Seems odd Motion would remove and reinstall the grille badge upside down, but it sure looks goofy to me in that last pic. Any thoughts...

Re: 1970 BM Camaro slides
Shor, any idea where this car is today?

Re: 1970 BM Camaro slides
Unfortunatley, Ed, the car is long gone. These slides and some memories past are all that remain.

Re: 1970 BM Camaro slides
Thats too bad. Hopefully the car is still in existance and someone will see the pics of it on here and maybe know of it's whereabouts. Lets hope.

Re: 1970 BM Camaro slides
Sad.....The car was stolen when it was only a year or two old. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/frown.gif These slides, and fond memories, are all that remain. His Mom threw out these slides years ago during one of her basement Spring cleanings.
His younger brother Paul, my friend and the photographer, still living at home at the time, was going through the garbage at the curb looking for the baseball caps his mom had tossed also. He came across these and saved them. While not that clear, they are a special treat. The funny thing was Paul tried to talk his brother out of buying that car from Joel. He told his brother it was a ripoff and they could build the same car, if not faster for less money. I told him the response the slides had generated on our site and he was thrilled. |

Re: 1970 BM Camaro slides
The picture post was good car detective work by shor. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif
Finding real original pictures is more difficult then finding real cars. Not as expensive though |
Re: 1970 BM Camaro slides
Would it help to post the VIN of the car so someone might be able to search DMV's to see if the car still exists? Or do you think it would entice someone to produce a fake BM?
(I guess if someone is really interested they could contct the orig owner) |
Re: 1970 BM Camaro slides
Thanks for posting the slides Shor. I flipped when I saw them---what a KILLER car. And the photographer was only 10 years old! (He reminds me of me.)
It seems that those cars were at the top of the list with car theives in those days. I read an article in a 1982 Camaro magazine telling the story of Joe Oldham's 1969 Phase III Camaro that he bought new in '69. He lived in an apartment and the Camaro was kept in an open carport! He thwarted the first attempt by car thieves but they finally got the car. I think he only had it for a few months. Joe wrote for CARS Magazine and the staff was close to the Motion operation and wrote many great stories on B-M cars in the late '60s. 427TJ 1967 Camaro RS/SS 396 (L35, Th-400, 12-bolt 3:07, round bar) 2000 Subaru Legacy wagon (5-speed, AWD, power windows) 1989 Schwinn Diamondback mountain bike (New tires in 1996) |

Re: 1970 BM Camaro slides
Welcome Doc...cool slides.

Re: 1970 BM Camaro slides
Funny you say it was stolen, I remember Joe Oldham, one of the staff at the old Cars mags, had a Phase 111, that was stolen. No wonder there are so few of these survive.
Thanks for the PICS. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smile.gif |
