I'm also a sponsor, and have a MCACN car award pick. I selected one on Warren behalf, Guy Youngdell's silver 69 L78 Camaro. Virtually untouched, and so sweet. Warren's sole focus was the 1969 Camaro and this car would have given him a reason to smile! and think he was... Bill on the left pictured with Warren. |
Congratulations Bill! I don't even have a 69 Camaro anymore and you're still one of my favorite car guys in the world. Always look forward to catching up with you at MCACN.
|
Awesome, congratulations Bill!
|
I am honored to win the Warren!
No one more analytical in our hobby than Warren. Although we corresponded for nearly 40 years, we did not meet in person until MCACN 2018, where the photo was taken. Warren had his JL8 Z/28 there and as we walked the show, talked about stuff that would put most people to sleep. For example, the difference between original JL8 production brake pads and later service replace replacements-originals were directional. His brother Mark and girlfriend Karen were present and I know this meant a lot to them. Thanks again to Steve and the MCACN ownership group. I agree-Warren would have spent hours examining the L78. I appreciate all the kind words! |

I want to thank everyone able to attend the Warren Malkin Jr. Memorial Award Ceremony at MCACN 2021. The actual award had not arrived at the event, and wanted to share it now. We all miss Warren and glad his legacy will live on in many ways and through this award.
|
Thanks again to Steve and members of the MCACN ownership group!
The award will preserve Warren's legacy for present and future fans of the car voted "Best Chevy of All Time" - the 1969 Camaro. Although reticent, his knowledge of all things 1969 Camaro made him a legend in his time. His passing is a great loss for our community. I may follow in his footsteps but will never fill his shoes. |
Congrats William!

Thanks, Steve. I really appreciate the recognition but it is still all about the hobby and the friendships made along the way.
|
Congrats Jon...I'll remember your name from now on...
I followed the link to his thread and it's very interesting, but the link to his "story" seems to go dead. Xplantdad, Bruce, is there another way to see that thread ? I'll have to go searching for one of the die-cast cars now. Doubt I can afford one, but it would be cool. Jon, my '67 run of the mill SS350 car was Granada Gold too. Already plan to return it to that color. |
Jon's Z28 has been featured on here a few times...but the pics were posted before I took over Members Rides...and they were hosted on Photobucket :( They are all gone except for the post from 2016
From 2004: https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthre...ighlight=Mello From 2014: https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthre...ighlight=Mello And from 2016: https://www.yenko.net/forum/showthre...ighlight=Mello He's another neat link about Jon's Z28! https://www.hemmings.com/stories/201...acn?refer=news :beers: |
Yeah, I remember that fiasco with Photobucket going to paid only subscriptions. A lot of people lost all their photos. I elected to pay the $35/yr to keep mine intact and have been grandfathered in at that price ever since. Thanks for the links.
