Tundra was under 40K ?

Astock 12-21-2017 04:47 PM

I agree with the Tundra. Toyota has one truck to make better, and not a whole line-up of 1/2, 3/4, 1ton. They have good resale, and good transmissions. I've owned two Titans, and their eng, trans and rears are flawless, but man, the new one is pretty ugly, except from behind.

Jonesy 12-21-2017 04:51 PM

Funny. Everyone has different opinions and tastes. I think they are all ugly except for the Chevrolets. I like the new design also. The Toyotas to me are the ugliest.
I guess drive what you like :)

36 & change, end of year 4th of July special 2014 model. :D

The said they were struggling to give me 10k for my 2007 Tacoma with 139,000 miles on it so I went home, wrote a Craigslist ad for 16,900 and had 16,000 cash in my hand in less than 24 hrs.

ZiggyL78 12-23-2017 02:59 AM

Geez. They finally fix those goofy wheel wells and then screw up the front end. After a few months on the road the look will grow on you.

flyingn 12-23-2017 03:41 AM

Here's one that qualifies. My business partner just bought one of these:

He lost to a Hellcat, but only by a car and a half! These trucks are "supertrucks" :)

I like it. It seems like what the current designs are going but has more flair to it..

1967Z28 12-25-2017 04:14 PM

I like it also.

I like it too but got a good deal on this WT with plow, I have 10 acres and a long driveway to maintain.

MosportGreen66 01-08-2018 12:19 PM

Gents, on topic - what is your opinion on the 2017 Denali 2500 HD? Duramax diesel...

Dan

Billohio 01-08-2018 02:21 PM

I have a 17 chevy with the duramax. LTZ crew cab. The new engine is different but i dont notice any change in power. I am finding the hood scoop is high to see over. I have had 3 check engine lights, one on the way home from the dealer! I got a notice there's a recall on some emission module that may be my problem. I have been getting a new diesel every year since 2008 and this is the only one i had any trouble with. My brother in law got a super duty at the same time and i am getting a little better mileage and my truck does ride better.

They put me in a '17 for a deal I'd been stupid not to take, but I still think any GMC Sierra 2014 or older is the best looking truck on the road. I'm not totally in love with my '17 HD's styling but on the road dragging my trailer it all becomes OK.

The '19 pictured isn't my favorite either but GM will sell a bunch of them.

My tradition of a black GMC extends back to a '72 SWB, but when the above incident forced me to choose (the dealer is both Chevy and GMC), I went with a Chevy (High Country HD CC Duramax) for the first time. I don't care for GMC's daisy chain LED lights and the black wheel opening moldings seem like a place to collect wax and dirt.

Amazingly quiet at speed, ride is very good, more power than really needed , good milage too. No problems yet, other than the emissions recall.

GM's franchise pickup truck is the most disappointing "all-new" vehicle I've driven this year. Aside from the utter face-plant of its styling, this Silverado reeks of cost-cutting and profit-padding.
I bought a Raptor :) Loving it. Glad I didn't wait.

The dealer said no regular cab model till the first 1/4 of 2019 there is no demand for them. They have turned the pickup trucks into big SUV's with a sand box in the back for the kids.

m22mike 10-31-2018 08:10 PM

Well said, most people would not even consider hauling stuff in the SUV truck for fear of it getting dirty .
Even back in 2001 when I bought my 2500HD they had a hard time finding me a standard cab with 8 ft bed.

Its Reg Cab Or no Cab for Me,,

jasonL78 11-01-2018 11:14 AM

My brother n law bought the new body style in a BOSS package. Its a nice truck white with black painted bumpers. One thing I do not like is the rear bumper. It has cut outs for the exhaust but the pipes stop 1/2" before cut out and the opening has a fake tip. Its an awful set up it will be all rusted in that area in a couple years I bet. I real bad design in my eyes.

GM Powertrain 11-02-2018 04:27 PM

Front and rear styling look hideous. Powertrain obviously is strong. Brother in law just got a '19 Ram Big Horn. Much more presentable looking IMO and a very nice truck overall.

I saw the '88 GMT400's and didn't like them so I hurried and got an '87.

My dad said that if I had been around in his day "...you would have seen the '55 Chevys, not liked them and bought a '54".

I always liked the Surburban frontends & didn’t understand why the trucks didn’t have the same front end ...
Personally I’ll take a crew cab longbed 4X4 6.7 Powerstroke

STF455 11-07-2018 06:00 PM

The 2019 styling is much better than the '14-'18 models, to me. So far I like my '19 real well- it's a 1500 crew LTZ 4X4 with a 6.2.

When will the 2500's and 3500's HD get the new look I ant one. Larry

PxTx 11-07-2018 11:16 PM

Agree, I will wait to weigh my opinion on the 2500 and up trucks. I love the way the 6.2 runs in my wife's Denali, but too many years of seeing g the 1500 trucks with 8.6 rears and 4l60e transmissions failing when attempting to do the work of a bigger truck has me skeptical of any half ton- regardless of what they are rated for.

I have 345k on my 2001 2500hd with the Allison and and
8.1 big block. So I also am likely an outlier when compared to today's typical truck owner.

I will admit to having a preference for the GMC- and remains consistent on these 2019 trucks.

Astock 11-08-2018 12:30 AM

Next week, I plan on selling my 2002 Silverado 2500hd single cab, with the 8.1 and Allison. It has 36k miles. Real truck- spins the tires all the way up my driveway no matter how little you touch the go petal. Rather sell to someone here.

m22mike 11-08-2018 12:59 AM

I would be interested in what you think your truck is worth ? I have a 2001 2500HD, 8.1, Allison standard cab, 44K miles,

Mike

Billohio 11-08-2018 02:45 AM

How has the bodies on your 01 and 02s held up? I had a crew cab that now a friend of mine owns and the body is a mess. Rockers gone, rust under tbe bed flares. Once it started it didnt take long. I think it has at least 130k on it

m22mike 11-08-2018 11:34 AM

Mine never in salt or winter driven, truck is like new.
Mike

x33rs 11-08-2018 12:00 PM

My father had an 02 3/4 ton. He traded that in on a new 14 3/4 ton before he moved out here to AZ. He wanted a new truck for the trip. Both 6.0's and a little wheezy in my opinion. Towing our enclosed trailers out here was funny. I played with him in my duramax on every grade we encountered across country.

I've had my 05 duramax for years and has been a fantastic truck. I wouldn't mind a new one but can't get past the price tags now, lol. At barely 100k miles on mine it still has a lot of life left so hopefully I can hold off on another new truck for a few more years. I only use it when I need to tow something so it sits in the shop most of the time anyway.

markinnaples 11-08-2018 01:59 PM

Honestly, I think they dropped the ball on a lot of the 2019 Chevy designs; the trucks and Camaro are being panned by everyone. There was an article above that absolutely obliterated the new truck's interior, and as the owner of a 2017 Camaro, I have to agree. It has the same scratchy plastics that they used in the 80's. WTH GM? That is absolutely ridiculous that their interiors are so far behind every other maker. I've always been a GM guy, and mainly Chevy, but after owning a couple Fords, I think they're the way to go for new and newer cars and trucks.

I'm not sure Mike. I'll probably list it on Ebay, and let it run without a reserve.
Not a speck of rust on mine.

m22mike 11-08-2018 09:44 PM

Let me know if you list it on eBay, just curious. And someone here might be interested, great truck IMO.
Mike
