Lynn, materials are Base/clear.........

The color was custom mixed by me, the roof is a dark blue metallic (very fine metallic) to compliment the body.

As always photo's can't depict the colors accurately, absolutely stunning in person however.

Eddie stated that an F-car aficionado claims it is very close to what Ferrari offered in 1958, and very few samples exist to compare with.

The original color is not known only speculated.

ZLP955 09-04-2019 11:21 AM

That is stunning...... congratulations!

Lynn 09-04-2019 12:50 PM

Shaun:

If you don't mind, what brand of paint?

Thanks for posting pics of the progress. I know when I get buried in something, I rarely go get the camera.

I am Curious Mr. Galveston, did Mr. Montini exclaim any muttered Italian swear words and or any obscene wild hand gestures during the installation of the rear end? Perhaps a video would be a better choice of capturing the moment! ;>))

Jonesy 09-04-2019 02:20 PM

That color looks a lot like Azure Turquoise. :headbang:

Well...it's really difficult to photograph this color, I've tried all different lighting, indoors, outdoors, shady, etc.

Due to the composition of toners it's no where near Azure, these toners are not used in production line of late models.

Very cool restoration. Unique is an understatement.

firstgenaddict 01-05-2020 03:44 PM

Didn't know if you had seen this... Tom Cotter on Hagerty's Barn Find Hunter
57 Elena - black and white. (I can't ever figure out how to imbed here)

Bill Rhodes One of my dad's friends in Concord NC has restored some mid 50's Ferrari's which he has taken to Pebble - Last one he did was a little later, a 67 330 I believe - I was more impressed with the fact that restored a 57 Airbox fuelie in the mid 1970's (I love 57 vettes, add airbox, injectors, and big brakes and I am in heaven) Last time we were up there he was messing with Fat Fender FORDS.

Thank you - yes have seen this video and visited the car several yrs back and took about 300+ photo's of the car details to help in my restoration. Pretty neat car, i believe they are about to get the car started and running again.....been in hibernation for a while.

There are 49 Ellena's made, 15-16 know to exist and about 5-7 with the original drive train - which my car has all the orig drivetrain.

Im beginning the process for the Ferrari Classiche Certification with Ferrari on the car - similar to a JM inspection report but validation done thru Ferrari Maranello.

Heading to Cavallino Ferrari Event 25th of Jan with the car - hope to do well, i hope :-)

Canuck 01-05-2020 04:53 PM

Great car, great feature article. Kudos to Hemmings CC for committing to featuring the gamut of collector cars. These two cars are about 15 pages apart:)

A12pilot 05-20-2023 07:16 PM

Let's see. I ran out of superlatives to describe this. And for me, that's saying something!!

Fantastic and we'll deserved press for you too. EXCELLLENT!!

Thank you guys - a bit of a departure from the usual Z/28's and Yenko cars -

A very unique challenge, 4 years in the making, lots of dedicated support, hours and hours of research and to achieve Pebble with the car and the awards is beyond humbling.

Grateful to everyone for their efforts and attention to detail.

I like telling this story - when I brought the car home after purchase, and all the parts were uncrated and spread around the back driveway, body in the middle - doors off to the side, motor sitting there, kinda of a rough mockup of the assembly.....my wife looks at this hugh pile of unassembled parts, dirt, rust etc......she said " we paid how much for this stuff :-)" .

Like with any restoration we do - you have to have a vision, a plan, good support, and $$ to see it thru.

Many thanks SYC for the recognition.
