Continuing to track previous ownership of the COPO.

I received these pics this week from a previous owner. Here she is badged up as a Pro Street Z/28! These are from the early 90's.

I went to a local swap meet here in Cincinnati and I was able to get a couple of original Queen City decals. Still tracking previous owner history and I'm back to 1973! Also collecting parts needed for a few passes at SCR this Summer.

Funny how back in the day, Z/28 badges were added to make it cool. What could be cooler than a factory 427?

Hi folks,

Been awhile since I've posted an update. Good progress on the rear suspension changes and the motor clean up.

New cam, springs, and a freshened up set of 840 heads. The block appears to be a 427/390 hr. from 1968. Steel crank and 7/8 dimple rods and cast pistons. Big thanks to Dave McGaffee for assembling the motor. Going to pick it up this weekend.

Sammy hooked me up with some 70's Lakewood bars and I decided to go with the H/O powder coated drums.

Being a rookie I have made a few mistakes (like forgetting the rubber pads that go under the leaf springs... Grrr.) but it's coming together!

Looking good Jason! Thanks for the update.

Hello folks,

Last week I was able to buy this BE rear end for my car. Still has the original heat treated ring and pinion and the correct circle hole spring plates and 16 tooth side gears. The rear end had been in a local race car for the last 30+ years in Lexington, KY. I would like to thank fellow SYC members Van Hurst for the lead and Mike Angelo for the detailed pictures on how to tell the differences between a regular 12 bolt and a COPO. The spring perches will need to be cut off and put back in the factory location but other than that.. it just needs a good cleaning. It's a little late for an 05A car but it's close enough for an old driver! And no.. I will not be drag racing with this rear seeing I've been known to tear up 12 bolts..lol..

Just booked our flight for MCACN! Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks!

Hi SYC,

Wanted to share a few pics of my new purchase. Code 57 Fathom Green COPO Camaro. Big thanks to Doug Perry and Dave McGaffee for helping me with the purchase. This car was sold new from Queen City Chevrolet in Cincinnati. Funny thing is I have driven by their old lot on my way to work for 18 years and didn't even know it. Please check out the "427" markings that were found under the front fenders! The car came from Dick Weinle's personal collection. Dick has owned Edgewater Sports Park since 1979 and held an NHRA record.

The car was definitely raced and has a few battle scars. If anyone remembers this car from it's race days, please let me know.

Original sheet metal minus the hood an inner fenders
Original glass
Original drive train gone
Car does have a correct 512 427 block
