I just saw this on e-bay today and of all the 1969 Z/28s I have owned this was my favorite color combination but you have to see it in person to really appreciate it. When I had the car it did not have the original vinyl top and the guy that sprayed the silver was one of the best that I had seen at the time. If I was old enough in 1969 to order a 1969 Z/28 I would have never ordered this color combination, it would have been black with black comfort weave interior. I also snuck in a picture of a car I wish I had not sold because I listened to my wife. It was a factory dash-dash paint code black on black 73 Z/28. My wife thought it looked like the Bat mobile.

Re: Favorite '69 Z's we've owned
Speaking of flat hoods, just picked up this Yellow Z today from the 2nd owner since 1974. That's him helping load the original paint flat hood into the back of the truck.

Re: Favorite '69 Z's we've owned
Thanks Sam
Sure Charley. I've got the hood priced a bit on the high side, but if you buy it I'll throw the car in for free. Bruce, we saw it on OKC Craigslist yesterday. Figured it was probably fake, but decided to go have a look anyway since it was close. When we got there and realized it was the 2nd owner and that he had owned it for the past 37 years, it started getting interesting He had the invoice from Adams Chevrolet, Norman, OK showing he paid $1895 for it in Feb 1974. The car has been right here within a 15 mile radius ever since. It still has the original drivetrain but was repainted in the 80's and the interior freshened up. And of course, just like most of us, back in the 80's he added headers and chromed the hinges, alt bracket, etc. But he still had the original hood, exhaust manifolds, air cleaner, etc. His wife was with him when we met at the bank today. She told me that the last time she remembered riding in the car was when her husband and other two children picked her and their new baby up from the hospital! Here's a picture I took of them today...their last photo with the car they called a part of their family. And a couple more from the Craigslist ad. http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2...z28/owners.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2.../69z28/z01.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2.../69z28/z03.jpg http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c2.../69z28/z02.jpg |

Tires should be Goodyear Polyglas Wide Treads

Re: Favorite '69 Z's we've owned
Can we stop policing the photos in these threads? No one will want to post photos anymore... Unless the purpose of the photos is learn what is or not correct, detailed right, original, etc, etc, what value did either of you just add to this thread?

Re: Favorite '69 Z's we've owned
Agreed...

This thread is about "Favorite '69 Z's we've owned". Lets take it down a notch and keep the thread on topic. Its about sharing stories and pictures of our favorite Z28, not having them judged or critiqued.

Play nice everyone...Here is a pic of me screwing up a orig. paint 69 RS Z. Repainted it, added complete JL8 brakes, crossram and chambered exhaust. Been a few years. This was my first nice 69 Z28. It's a Garnet Red car.

....and the grill should be argent silver </div></div> I forgot who I was talking to.. It had the original argent grill painted black, probably done back when nobody cared. It was one of those tell tale signs it was the real thing..as were the original Z-28 emblems. And yeah I guess there was a lot of wrong stuff on it..It was never restored but it had been 'repaired' over the years, Complete born with drive-train. Orig alt, carb even shifter as I remember. If I made it out to be a showstopper, I over spoke, However since it was the ONLY 69' Z I've owned. It was my favorite. |

I miss those days. Seeing Charley tear apart his red Z reminds me of the fun my buddies and I used to have with our cars, not a care in the world other than 'improving' our cars. |

That pic was from late 80's. Here it is in orig paint with sport mirrors that were on it. Pics of orig engine that to this day has only had the timing chain and gears replaced. Pic of it with crossram and a pic of it after repaint.

Keep the Z28 photos coming!
This is the fathom/medium green '69 Z28 we used to own. Sold it to a cop in Boston who did what I just could not. He tore the entire car apart (37k original miles, original motor, trans, rear, X33) and completed a restoration. Did a marvelous job and I commend him for it. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...reen66/2-7.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...6/DSCN1586.jpg from my tenure http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...Files050-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...arFiles073.jpg <div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Originally Posted By: 70 Forest Green Zee</div><div class="ubbcode-body">He's the one who said "everything was right" when in fact everything was not right. I still own this 29k org mile JL8 w/one repaint by the 2nd owner in 1981 who also installed a x-ram at the time and yes the interior is all org. I currently have the cowl hood for sale and I am putting the org flat hood back on. Documented with POP and window sticker from Thomas Chevrolet in Bedford, PA, also featured in Jerry's book.

Thanks, Mike, As soon as I sell the cowl hood that is on the car the sooner the flat hood goes on. This photo will have to do for now documenting the return of the flat hood. Dale, the 2nd owner almost ruined this car back in 1981 when he had it painted and installed the x-ram. He went to a local fab shop and wanted them to tub the car and the owner of the shop talked him out of it. The only reason Dale painted the car was because of a few small door dings and paint chips from parking the car next to others in a parking area when he went to work.

Re: Favorite '69 Z's we've owned
Good god Jeff that car is immaculate... Silly question maybe but will the xram fit under a flat hood? I thought about installing one on my car. In no way shape or form am I being facetious.
