Re: Bill Thomas Fastback Novas ?
You can register and post under multiple screen names on this site??? Why did you delete the picture of the Madsen car? I changed my name. Out of respect to the owner. |

[/ QUOTE ] I tried that earlier and it came up "this member is not accepting PMs" If I understand you correctly, you want someone to come up with some pictures so you can determine if it is ONE car that MAY be know as TWO? You may wait a lifetime for them to surface if ever. There may not be any pictures out there or anyone that knows the history of the car making a switch at some point. I believe that The Madsen family (Dad) bought his car new. If you have spoken to Scott about it why don't you make the info you have on this car known? If you don't I will talk to Kim to see what I can find out. I should think that they would be one of the best sources for the history of these cars. I have known Kim since 1982. I remember him telling me that his father raced that car in several different venues. he told me at one time it ran a fuel injected 327 with TWO air meters mounted on the top of the plenum. He did a lot of experimenting with the car. He was also very well acquinted with Grumpy and Smokey back in the day. You are afraid you are possibly going to mis-speak and everyone else thinks you are holding out with info that MAY be correct. It is real simple, just state that what you THINK is true, is just that, a guess or THEORY based on information you have. As long as you put it out there in that way no one is going to throw rocks at you. OTOH, the way you are going about this, people that MAY be able to help you may be holding back with their info based on your presentation. |
Re: Bill Thomas Fastback Novas ?
I fixed the pm thing.... Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I have talked to Scott & I have NO doubts about the car's history. Hell...... I think I might know more about his car then he does @ this point ....https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/smirk.gif
This is what I don't know. How & when did Huston Platt get his car? What happened to it? The L.A. car is it just a rumor? Sorry if I'm going about this in a way that doesn't please you guys. I just don't want to get this wrong. On a side note.... How do I get a smilie that says Dave sucks? |

Re: Bill Thomas Fastback Novas ?
I agree here, just state what you know or have info on what you know of.
Being out here for many years, there are several very PRIVATE collections that exist that most of us either dont know about nor see. If there is someone who owns one of these, has yet to disclose their car, visits here, then please stand up and share it with us here. 196365...enough already https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif |
Re: Bill Thomas Fastback Novas ?
I found some more info that I don't mind sharing. I noticed that there is a lot of mis-information on the net about the Platt car. Some say he was killed in it. Not so. He sold the car.
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3.../Twisterad.jpg It went to Carl Theobald in Endwell, NY. Carl renamed it Misdemeaner. Carl moved to AZ after retirement and has since passed away. There's no way for history to be saved if it isn't shared. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/scholar.gif Verne https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif |

I have found out, more times then not, they do not have squat, just fishing. |
Re: Bill Thomas Fastback Novas ?
You may be right Tom, but I did check out his site (when the link was there) and he did have plenty of saved photos. Of course, anyone could do that with enough time on the net, but I wonder why all the intrigue was pushed out, looking for "something" before he disclosed what he said he had. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...s/confused.gif My interest is only in the history and I feel the more, the better. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...iggthumpup.gif

Verne, I did not mean to point the finger at him, more of a general statement. Just seems to me lots of folks do that.
Heck, I know of a website where all their members do that. https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...ns/naughty.gif https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/haha.gif |

Re: Bill Thomas Fastback Novas ?
Thanks for posting that pic Verne, I have that original ad from back in the day. I don't know how Platt got that car, nor where it is today. I believe the cKc car is here in PA.
I don't know the 'inquiring mind' here, but to be honest - I don't think anyone on this site would truly claim to be a 'guru' on the f/back Novas. Although at least 3 of them spent time with Bill Thomas, and were originally destined to be pseudo f/i 'vettes for the European road racing circuit they really don't come up in conversation very often. They are historically notable, but without any of them in circulation they are not oft discussed. So, once again, if you have something to share - please do. If you are awaiting some type of confirmation - it might be awhile! It might be more productive if you simply asked the question of whatever it is that you are looking for - I know that the former/current owners of 2 of the f/back Novas peruse this site - but trust me, they won't post (so if you are here to 'smoke them out', it fruitless!) |

Re: Bill Thomas Fastback Novas ?
The dual air meter thingie was a Bill Thomas item. It makes perfect sense that one of the cars would have left his shop with that configuration. This is a photo from one of his catalogs.
http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j3...eterFI0001.jpg Marlin, Does your original ad for the Twister have a date on it? Just curious when it was sold. Thanks Verne https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...mlins/wink.gif |

I'm currently having 3 sets of the Bill Thomas seats made from the original molds.
And by the way...... I'm not fishing. |

Thanks for posting it. So How did he get it & what happened to the car after he sold it? Was Huston's car 1 of the 3 or did he buy the roof & put it on a 65 SS ? The CKC car is in Reading.. |

Hey, I had one of those units recently.........sometimes I wish I had built a car around it!

Re: Bill Thomas Fastback Novas ?
"GAME"........ No Games.... I asked some very specific questions about the cars. Now I have talked with a REALLY good friend of the late Bill Thomas that got me allot of info on why & how these cars were built including pictures. I have also talked with guys that helped build these cars. Now I know I didn't state this from the get go, but it had NO relevance @ the time. Some guys own Yenkos & want to know everything there is to know. I want to know everything about the FB cars for a reason. For a LONG time everyone thought there was only 1 of 3 cars........... well they were wrong. In fact they were wrong about there being 3 cars. Verne, Thanks for posting the pics. I will continue my search for info on these cars elsewhere.
So please show everybody here how funny you guys can be & feel free to bash me. Let the games begin............................ |
Re: Bill Thomas Fastback Novas ?
Besides the low amount produced what did these cars accomplish on the drag strip against the Fords and Mopars of the time?
Did they win any AHRA/NHRA National/Regional events or majority of the match bash stuff they ran? Very cool cool cars..just wondering the "provenance" involved with these cars. |
Re: Bill Thomas Fastback Novas ?
I have an old article that the original fi unit installed by b/t was the factory 'vette version. Very understandable that b/t had his own version as well. Neat pics from his catalog. For the Outer Space poster; I don't belive the cKc car is in Reading, PA but it is in PA. If your contribution to this subject is simply that there were 4 cars instead of 3, or 10 instead of 3, or any combination.... this is a very strange way to go about it. And, quite frankly, additional cars being built really won't turn the site on its ear - its interesting but not earth shattering. We've been dealing with 'nailing down the number' issues for a few decades now, and we've gotten to the point where we all pretty much accept that the record keeping back in the day was haphazard. So, formal lists are nice, but each car speaks for itself - and sometimes they are just as real as the rest, but for their own unique reason(s) were not documented on a list. No biggie. So, tell us something with substance about the f/back Novas. Give us some awesome pics that we've not seen before. The bar is pretty high, as Milner's daughter came on here a few years ago and hit one outta the park!! |

If you look at the background of those pictures, you'll see they were taken back in 63 thru 65. Most likely the owner back then doesn't have any idea what happened to the car, or if it may even still be around. |
