Re: Gas siphoning

I tell what I use and it works pretty good
87-91 fords I know the vans had them . A electric fuel
pump that was mounted on the frame rail likes like a fuel filter with wires
I take one of them attach a small fuel line on the suction end of the pump and
Attach the outlet hose in a gas can put suction hose in the gas fill hole power up the pump with 12 volt’s
I can get 98 % of the gas out that way have been doing
this for years
But for god shake do not use your mouth to Siphon https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/no.gif Have learned the hard way https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...lins/blush.gif
This is NOT a good thing to do

For me it was the best way

I came up with the idea of using clear line after NUMEROUS incidents of coughing and gagging on Hi-Test! https://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/imag...thumbsdown.gif

I imagine it gave you gas...you could probably light your burbs on fire...now that's a party trick...

Re: Gas siphoning

go to Home depot and get a kerosean pump and take the siphon line and put it on the end to make it longer, it will empty your tank in no time.

There is a great product available for siphoning. Its a long section of 1/2" clear hose with a check valve on the end. Its called the super siphon. It was a gift, I'm not sure where they are sold but it works great.

Super Siphon

Much better than the tried and true method I learned when I was a kid.

I did an upside-down head inside the empty doghouse of a 60's Chevy Van siphon trick once...sucked on the fuel line and filled my head and sinus cavity w/ gas...puked, passed out and had a headache for days...don't try it!!.

On another Danger note, isn't Ethanol toxic if you ingest it?. I've seen some station pumps note up to 10% Ethanol content and wondered how bad ingesting some when doing the simple siphoning we all love to do?.

Re: Gas siphoning

If you can get your hand around the filler neck hole you can put your fingers over the hole so that when you blow into the hose you increase the air pressure in the tank so that when you take your mouth off the hose the fuel comes squirting out. That's scientific! Kind of like letting the air out of a balloon.
